Sydney Rowell
Lieutenant general (Australia), Lieutenant General Sir Sydney Fairbairn Rowell, (15 December 1894 – 12 April 1975) was an Australian soldier who served as Chief of Army (Australia), Chief of the General Staff from 17 April 1950 to 15 December 1954. As Vice Chief of the General Staff from 8 January 1946 to 16 April 1950, he played a key role in the post-Second World War reorganisation of the Army, and in the 1949 Australian coal strike. However, he is best known as the commander who was dismissed in the Kokoda Track campaign. As a young officer, Rowell served at Gallipoli Campaign, Gallipoli but was invalided back to Australia with typhoid fever in January 1916. The end of the war found Rowell junior in rank to his contemporaries with more distinguished war records, but he managed to catch up in the post-war period. Victoria Lynn Rowell (born May 10, 1959) is an American actress, screenwriter, director, and producer. She began her career as a ballet dancer and model before making her acting debut in the 1987 comedy film '' Leonard Part 6''. In 1990, Rowell joined the cast of the CBS daytime soap opera ''The Young and the Restless'' as Drucilla Winters, her signature and longest role on television, for which she was nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards. Geoffrey Rowell
Douglas Geoffrey Rowell (; 13 February 1943 – 11 June 2017) was an Anglican bishop and historian. He served as Bishop of Basingstoke and then as the third Bishop in Europe until his retirement on 8 November 2013. Following his retirement he ministered as an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Chichester (from 2013) and in the Diocese of Portsmouth (from 2015). Jonathan Michael "Jonny" Rowell (born 10 September 1989) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder. Rowell began his career in his native England and played in League One for Hartlepool United but he has predominantly spent his career in Belgium and played in the Belgian Pro League for Waasland-Beveren; he also played in the Challenger Pro League for Dender EH but left Dender following their promotion to the top flight. John Samuel Rowell (April 1, 1825 – October 21, 1907) was an American agricultural inventor and pioneer manufacturer. Born in Springwater, New York, and living his adult life in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, he held more than 40 patents for farm machinery and agricultural implement improvements, including the patent on the cultivator tooth. Edward Michael Rowell (15 June 1876 – 21 July 1965) was a professional athlete and Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life The son of William Rowell (1836–1903) and Johanna Rowell (, 1833–1900), Edward Michael Rowell was born in the Victorian goldfields, at Vaughan, on 15 June 1876. As a teenager in the 1890s, Rowell was attracted to the goldfields in Western Australia and as a youngster was proficient in cricket, foot running and Australian rules football. Galen Avery Rowell (August 23, 1940 – August 11, 2002) was an American wilderness photographer, adventure photojournalist and mountaineer. Born in Oakland, California, he became a full-time photographer in 1972. Early life and education Rowell was introduced to the wilderness at a very young age and he completed his first roped climb in Yosemite Valley when he was 16. Newton Rowell
Newton Wesley Rowell, (November 1, 1867 – November 22, 1941) was a Canadian lawyer, politician, judge, and lay leader in the Methodist Church. Rowell led the Ontario Liberal Party from 1911 to 1917 and put forward a platform advocating temperance. Rowell's Liberals failed to oppose the Whitney government's passage of Regulation 17 which restricted the teaching of the French language in schools and alienated the province's French-Canadian minority. Jack Rowell
Jack Rowell OBE (1 November 1936 – 1 July 2024) was an English rugby union coach and executive. He was coach of Bath and England. Rugby career Playing Rowell played as a Lock for Hartlepool Rovers and Middlesbrough RUFC. He was injured in trials for Oxford University RFC and was recommended not to play again, but restarted playing in his late 20s at Gosforth RFC. Chester Rowell
Chester A. Rowell (October 17, 1844 – May 9, 1912) was an American physician and politician who served as a California state senator and as mayor of Fresno. He was also a regent of the University of California. Before moving to California, Dr. Rowell was a Union soldier in the Civil War mustered in the 17th Illinois Infantry along with four of his brothers. He took part in several battles between 1861 and 1864, including the Fort Donelson, the Battle of Shiloh and the Siege of Vicksburg. Dr. Rowell arrived in Fresno in 1874 to practice medicine. Chester Harvey Rowell
Chester Harvey Rowell (November 1, 1867April 12, 1948) was an early leader of the progressive movement in California. Biography Born in Bloomington, Illinois, he earned a degree from the University of Michigan in 1888. His father was Jonathan H. Rowell, a U.S. congressman in Illinois. Rowell studied three years in Europe, including terms at the Universities of Halle, Berlin, Paris and Rome.
