''Rowan's Battle of Britain'', sometimes known simply as ''Battle of Britain'', is a World War II era combat flight simulation game set during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Gameplay The combat flight simulation has both RAF and opposing Luftwaffe forces featuring over of sky and hundreds of aircraft. Release It has been remade twice, first in 2005 as '' Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory'' by Shockwave Productions, Inc., and again in 2007 as '' Air Battles: Sky Defender'' by Wild Hare Entertainment, a modified version of the above game with a more arcade-style gameplay. Reception The game received "generally favourable reviews" according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Rowan Software
Rowan Software was a British software company focused on the development of computer games. The company was founded by Rod Hyde in 1987 and based in Runcorn, Cheshire. Rowan was best known as a publisher of flight simulators for the PC. The company was involved with a number of publishers including Mirrorsoft, Mindscape, Spectrum Holobyte, Virgin, and Empire Interactive. Rowan's involvement with Mirrorsoft included development of the strategy/role-playing title Duster which collapsed when Mirrorsoft was declared bankrupt. GameRankings
GameRankings was a video gaming review aggregator that was founded in 1999 and owned by CBS Interactive. It indexed over 315,000 articles relating to more than 14,500 video games. GameRankings was discontinued in December 2019, with its staff being merged with the similar aggregator Metacritic. Rankings GameRankings collected and linked to (but did not host) reviews from other websites and magazines and averages specific ones. While hundreds of reviews may get listed, only the ones that GameRankings deemed notable were used for the average. Scores were culled from numerous American and European sources. The site used a percentage grade for all reviews in order to be able to calculate an average.
