The Central Australian Football League (CAFL) is an Australian rules football competition operating out of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia. Established in 1947, the CAFL is the oldest, most popular and important football league in Central Australia. It is notable for producing VFL/AFL players such as Darryl White, Joel Bowden and Liam Jurrah. The home of the CAFL is Traeger Park. The CAFL organises the annual Ngurratjuta Town Vs Country Challenge event and local Rec Footy competitions. Rovers Football Club (1882-1899)
The Rovers Football Club was an Australian rules football club that competed in the Western Australian Football Association (WAFA) from 1885 to 1899. The club won the premiership in 1885 and 1891. History Rovers began as a rugby union club in 1882 however made the switch to Australian rules football along with other West Australian clubs in 1885. Rovers were one of four teams that formed the WAFA in 1885 and were invited to compete in the inaugural competition: the others were Fremantle, High School and Victorians. The High School team dropped out two rounds into the season; the remaining teams played a six round season, with Rovers winning three and drawing two of its games to become the inaugural premiers of the WAFA. After several competitive seasons, Rovers won the premiership in 1891. Queensland Football Association (1880-1890)
The Queensland Football Association (QFA) was the first governing body for football in the Colony of Queensland founded on 30 April 1880. Its role was primarily to facilitate club and representative matches primarily in Australian rules football but also in Rugby union. It was the first governing body for Australian rules football in Queensland (the code was first introduced to the colony in 1866 by the Brisbane Football Club). However it did not govern outright and as per its affiliation to the Victorian Football Association (which had begun with its member clubs in 1877) deferred all decisions on the game to this body as a result, the clubs were known as Victorian Association clubs, and would play under Victorian Association or "Association Football" rules. 900 Queensland Victorian Association footballers were members in 1884.
