Route nationale 118 is now a French route nationale from Sèvres to Les Ulis. History The route was created in 1972. It takes the place of route nationale 187 between Sèvres and Meudon, Meudon la Forêt, of the route nationale 306 between Saclay and Bièvres, Essonne, Bièvres and of the route nationale 446 between Saclay and Orsay. Route Nationale
A ''route nationale'', or simply ''nationale'', is a class of trunk road in France. They are important roads of national significance which cross broad portions of the French territory, in contrast to departmental or communal roads which serve more limited local areas. Their use is free, except when crossing certain structures subject to a toll. They are open to all vehicles, except on certain sections having motorway ('' autoroute'') or express road (''voie express'') status, both of these categories being reserved for motorized vehicles only. France at one time had some 30,500 km of ''routes nationales'' and publicly owned motorways, but this figure has decreased with the transfer of the responsibility for many routes to the '' départements'' so that by 2010 the total length of motorways and other national roads was around 21,100 km. Chaville () is a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department and Île-de-France region of north-central France. It lies some from the centre of Paris in the south-western suburbs of the French capital. Porte D'Orléans
The Porte d'Orléans is one of 17 ''portes'' ( city gates of Paris) in the Thiers wall, a defensive wall constructed in the mid-nineteenth century to protect Paris. The wall was demolished after the First World War, creating an open space that was subsequently built up. Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines () is a new town and an agglomeration community in the French department of Yvelines. It is one of the original five villes nouvelles ( new towns) of Paris and was named after the Saint Quentin Pond, which was chosen to become the town's centre. Gif-sur-Yvette (, "Gif-on- Yvette") is a commune in southwestern Île-de-France, France. It is located in the Vallée de Chevreuse, from the centre of Paris (at Notre-Dame), in the Essonne department on the departmental border with Yvelines. In 2021, it had a population of 22,352. Aéroport De Toussus-le-Noble
Paris-Saclay-Versailles Airport (formerly Toussus-le-Noble Airport) is a regional airport in France located in the town of Toussus-le-Noble, in Yvelines. Palaiseau
Palaiseau () is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris. Palaiseau is a sub-prefecture of the Essonne department and the seat of the Arrondissement of Palaiseau. Palaiseau was a royal domain in the 6th century then again in the 18th century on the important road from Chartres to Paris.
