Route 417 (Israel–Palestine)
Route 417 (, "Kvish Arba'-Achat-Sheva'") is an intercity road in Israel and the West Bank that stretches from the west side of Jerusalem to Ma'ale Adumim and Highway 1 (Israel), Highway 1 east to the Jordan Valley. History Most of the road serves as a local thoroughfare within Jerusalem and East Jerusalem. The road has been non-contiguous since the construction of the Israeli West Bank barrier through Abu Dis in 2006. Route 417 used to be the main route from the west to the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, bypassing downtown Jerusalem. With the opening of Highway 1 (Israel)#History-Through Jerusalem, Jerusalem Road 9 (Yitzhak Shamir Road and ) and the Ma'ale Adumim Road, the historic route lost that distinction. The Old City of Jerusalem (; ) is a Walls of Jerusalem, walled area in Jerusalem. Yitzhak Shamir Road
Yitzhak Shamir Road () is a section of Highway 1 between the and the . In the past, this section was called Jerusalem Road 9 after the road construction project that was built by Moriah. The section passes through the jurisdiction of the city of Jerusalem. The section of road initially opened in 2007, and includes construction of a bridge to split traffic on highway one to the area of the Moriah Gate Interchange and the construction of two tunnels in Emeq HaArazim. It is 3.6 km long and includes a two-lane tunnel around 400 meters long. ITs construction lasted six years and costed 500 million Israeli shekels ($125 million USD in 2007). The West Bank barrier, West Bank wall or the West Bank separation barrier, is a separation barrier built by Israel along the Green Line (Israel), Green Line and inside parts of the West Bank.
