Rotterdam Dance Academy
Codarts University for the Arts () is a Dutch vocational university in Rotterdam that teaches music, dance and circus. It was established in its present location in 2000. History Codarts can trace its origins to the Rotterdams Conservatorium voor Muziek (Rotterdam Conservatory of Music), popularly known as the Conservatorium Holthaus after its director, Jos Holthaus (1879–1943). In 1886 the German violinist Willy Hess (violinist), Willy Hess took up a professorship in the Rotterdams Conservatorium voor Muziek which he held for two years. In 1930 the alternative Rotterdamsch Toonkunst Conservatorium (Rotterdam Musical Arts Conservatory) was founded with the composer Willem Pijper as director. The Rotterdamse Dansschool (Rotterdam Dance School) was established in 1931 by Corrie Hartong as director and the German dancer Gertrud Leistikow as a teacher. De Doelen
De Doelen is a concert venue and convention centre in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It was originally built in 1934 but then destroyed in 1940 during the German bombardment of Rotterdam in May 1940 at the outset of World War II. It was rebuilt in 1966, originally with one hall to which two more were added in the 1990s. It has a variety of facilities, including the Grote Zaal (Grand Hall), a 2,200-seat concert hall, two smaller halls which each seat about 700 people, and convention rooms. In 2015 it was classified as a Rijksmonument. Froukje Veenstra
Froukje Veenstra (born 4 September 2001), known mononymously as Froukje, is a Dutch singer-songwriter from Nieuwkoop, South Holland. Early life Froukje Veenstra was born in Nieuwkoop into a family of teachers, for whom music always played a central role. She used to play in the band Ginger Squad together with her father and her sister and later in other bands, including Chicks & Wings. When she was 16, she moved to Rotterdam to enrol at Codarts, the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music. Her studies were disrupted from 2020 onward by the COVID-19 pandemic. Willemijn Verkaik (; born 16 June 1975) is a Dutch singer and actress. She is best known for her stage roles in the musicals '' Wicked'' and '' Elisabeth'', and for providing the voice of Elsa in the German version (singing only) and the Dutch version of Disney's '' Frozen''. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (RPhO; ) is a Dutch symphony orchestra based in Rotterdam. Its primary venue is the concert hall De Doelen. The RPhO is considered one of the Netherlands' two principal orchestras of international standing, second to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam.
