	André Rostand André Rostand is a Madagascar, Malagasy politician. He was a member of the National Assembly (Madagascar), National Assembly of Madagascar, he was elected as a member of the Tiako I Madagasikara party in the 2007 Malagasy parliamentary elections. He represents the constituency of Mahabo. He was also a candidat in 2013 Malagasy general elections and for IRD in 2019 but both times he failed to be elected with 13.35% and 24,43% of votes. 	Aura Rostand Aura Rostand was the pen name for Nicaraguan poet Maria de la Selva (1899–1957). She was the sister of poet Salomón de la Selva and artist Roberto de la Selva. Rostand, a trained teacher, published her first poem aged eighteen. She travelled throughout Latin America and the United States while publishing poetry. Rostand also wrote journalistic works for Mexican and Costa Rican publications. In 1927, she was appointed Nicaraguan counsel to Detroit, Michigan. She was the first Nicaraguan women to hold a diplomatic position. She held that post until 1929. While in Detroit Rostand had a miscarriage and her brother, Salomón, gave birth to a son called Salomoncito. The circumstances around this, as well as analysis of correspondence between the siblings, led literary historian Steven White to question whether Salomoncito was a child of an incestuous relationship between the siblings. 	Jean Rostand Jean Edmond Cyrus Rostand (30 October 1894, Paris – 4 September 1977, Ville-d'Avray) was a French biologist, historian of science, and philosopher. Active as an experimental biologist, Rostand became famous for his work as a science writer, as well as a philosopher and an activist. His scientific work covered a variety of biological fields such as amphibian embryology, parthenogenesis and teratogeny, while his literary output extended into popular science, history of science and philosophy. His work in the area of cryogenics gave the idea of cryonics to Robert Ettinger. He took an interest in ethics and morality in biology and wrote against pseudoscience, the use of science for war, wrote against racism and supported human equality and freedom. 	Rostand Island Rostand Island is a rocky island 400 m long and 200 m south-east of Petrel Island in the Geologie Archipelago of Antarctica. It was charted in 1951 by the French Antarctic Expedition and named by them for Jean Rostand, noted French biologist. It is the site of the rock dome Tour de Pise. Antarctic Specially Protected Area A site cluster in the heart of the Géologie Archipelago, south and east, and in the immediate vicinity, of Petrel Island and Dumont d'Urville Station, comprises Rostand, Le Mauguen, Claude Bernard and Lamarck Islands, Bon Docteur Nunatak, and a breeding site of emperor penguins on the intervening sea ice. The site is protected under the Antarctic Treaty System as Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA) No.120.
