Eric Rosse
Eric Ivan Rosse is an American composer, songwriter, record producer, and mixer. Rosse started playing piano at age 8, eventually studying orchestration and arranging with Joe Rotundi, Sr. His style is influenced by soul, rock, art pop, and classical music. After playing in numerous bands as a keyboard player and singer, he expanded on his career by scoring TV and commercials; he then produced Tori Amos' albums ''Little Earthquakes'' and ''Under the Pink''. Since then, he has been instrumental in projects as diverse as Sara Bareilles' album ''Little Voice (album), Little Voice'', Maroon 5, Birdy (singer), Birdy, Gavin DeGraw, Andra Day, Mary Lambert (singer), Mary Lambert, and Benny Cassette. Rosse has also worked with Pablo Alborán and Vanesa Martín Mata. He produced and composed Alborán's ''Terral'', which received a Latin Grammy and Grammy nominations. Frederick Rosse
Frederick Rosse (1867 – 20 June 1940) was an English composer of light music and operetta. After studying music in Germany and elsewhere, he began his career as a musical director at London theatres. He composed suites of incidental music for several plays, orchestral suites and songs. His "Doge's March" from his music for ''The Merchant of Venice'' was his most enduring piece. Herman Rosse
Hermann Rosse (1 January 1887 – 13 April 1965) was a Dutch-American architect, illustrator, painter, theatrical designer, and art director. He won an Academy Awards, Academy Award for Best Art Direction for the film the ''King of Jazz''. Early life He was born in The Hague, Netherlands, and died in Nyack, New York. John Ross (bishop Of Exeter)
John Ross or Rosse (1719–1792) was an English Bishop of Exeter. Life He was born at Ross-on-Wye, Ross in Herefordshire, on 24 or 25 June 1719, the only son of John Rosse, attorney in that town. He was educated at the Hereford Cathedral School, grammar school in Hereford, was admitted a pensioner at St John's College, Cambridge (April 1737), and on the following 22 June became a Somerset scholar of the third foundation at his college. He graduated B.A. 1741, M.A. 1744, B.D. 1751, D.D. 1756, and on 10 July 1744 was incorporated at Oxford. From March 1744 to 1770 he held a fellowship at St. John's, and down to 1768 he discharged college duties. In 1757 Ross was appointed to the preachership at the Rolls Chapel, although Richard Hurd (bishop), Richard Hurd was a competitor and received the support of William Warburton and Charles Yorke, and in the same year became a king's chaplain. Mary Rosse
Mary Parsons, Countess of Rosse (; 14 April 1813 – 1885), was an Anglo-Irish amateur astronomer, architect, furniture designer, and pioneering photographer. Often known simply as Mary Rosse, she was one of the early practitioners of making photographs from waxed-paper negatives. Early life Mary Field was born on 14 April 1813, at Heaton Hall, Heaton, Bradford, Yorkshire, the daughter of John Wilmer Field, a wealthy estate owner. She had a sister, Delia, and they were educated at home by Susan Lawson, a governess who encouraged the young Mary's creativity and broad interests, including astronomy. The sister were joint heirs to their father's fortune. Through her family she met the future 3rd Earl of Rosse, then Lord Oxmantown (1800–1867), an Anglo-Irish astronomer and naturalist, and they were married on 14 April 1836. Susan Penelope Rosse
Susan Penelope Rosse (also known as Susannah Penelope Rosse) (1652–1700) was an English painter. She painted portrait miniatures. She was the daughter of painter Richard Gibson. Her most notable artwork is a portrait of Gilbert Burnet. Life Susan Penelope Gibson was born in 1652. Her parents Anne (née Sheppard) and Richard Gibson (1615–1690) worked as “court dwarfs”. Anne served Queen Henrietta Maria and Richard worked for King Charles I. Susan was the eldest of their children, all of whom were of standard height. She was raised in London. Her father was miniature painter Richard Gibson. She grew up next to artist Samuel Cooper. They remained close friends for their entire lives. She married jeweler Michael Rosse. Earl of Rosse is a title that has been created twice in the Peerage of Ireland, both times for the Parsons family. "Rosse" refers to New Ross in County Wexford. History The Parsons were originally an English family from Dishworth ( Diseworth) Grange in Leicestershire; there having been five brothers who settled in Ireland during the late 16th century. One of the brothers, William Parsons, was created a Baronet in the Baronetage of Ireland of Bellamont in the County of Dublin in 1620 by James VI & I. Rosse (crater)
Rosse is a bowl-shaped Lunar craters, lunar impact crater located in the southern part of Mare Nectaris. It was named after Irish astronomer William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, Lord Rosse. To the southwest is the large, flooded crater Fracastorius (crater), Fracastorius. The interior of the crater has a higher albedo than the surrounding lunar mare, making it readily visible. While it lacks a ray system of its own, rays from distant Tycho (crater), Tycho cross it. Low ridges in the mare lie between this crater and Fracastorius to the southwest. Satellite craters By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Rosse. References
