	Ross High RFC Ross High RFC is a rugby union club based in Tranent, Scotland. The Men's team currently plays in . History The club was founded in 1970. The club, as its name suggests, grew out of the desire of the former pupils of Ross High School in Tranent to form a rugby union club. The first President of the club Bill Monteith was headmaster of the High School. The club's longest serving president was Scott Glynn, who was given a MBE for his charity work. Glynn died on 1 January 2020. A book was released ''Mon the Ross'' detailing the history of the club. picture info	Tranent Tranent is a town in East Lothian (formerly Haddingtonshire), in the south-east of Scotland. Tranent lies 6 miles from the boundary of Edinburgh, and 9.1 miles from the city centre. 	Ross High School, Tranent Ross High School is a large secondary school in Tranent, East Lothian. As of April 2021, the school roll was 1,259 (2021) making it the largest secondary school in East Lothian by pupil roll. The school was founded in 1954 and named after George Ross, who was convener of the local council at the time. The current head teacher is Paul Reynolds. In 2022 construction of an exstension was completed allowing for new ICT, modern languages and art classrooms. History Before Ross High School was established, students from Tranent and surrounding areas attended Preston Lodge High School in Prestonpans. Until 1954 when a major effort to provide a 6-year school for Tranent and surrounding villages. 	Markham, Caerphilly Markham is a small village in the South Wales Valleys in Caerphilly County Borough, to the northeast of Bargoed. The B4511 road links to Markham from Aberbargoed and joins the A4048 road to the north of Argoed. The Sirhowy River flows to the east of the village. The village's population was around 1,495 people in 2011. History The area was formerly known as ''"Berllan Llwyd"'' and this name appears on tithe maps until the twentieth century. The name would seem to mean "The Grey/Brown Orchard" and was also the name of a farm whose land the modern village was built on. The modern Miners Institute and Welfare Club occupy the site of the farm buildings. The nature of the area was dramatically changed when the Markham Steam Coal Company opened Markham Colliery in 1913. 	Jade Konkel Jade Elizabeth Konkel (born 9 December 1993) is a professional rugby union player who plays her club rugby with Harlequins Women in the PWR. Konkel is the Captain of Harlequins Women. She is a Number 8 and has represented the Scottish national team since 2013. Club career After moving to Glasgow to attend university, Konkel played for Hillhead Jordanhill Rugby Football Club. It was while at the club that she made history by becoming Scottish Rugby's first full-time female player in the summer of 2016.
