Roslagstull Hospital
Roslagstull Hospital ( Swedish: Roslagstulls sjukhus) is a former isolation hospital in Stockholm, situated in the Royal National City Park close to Roslagstull in the northern part of the inner city. The hospital was founded in 1893 as Stockholms epidemisjukhus and closed in 1992. Six of the former hospital buildings were preserved. Today, most of the former hospital area and preserved buildings have been incorporated into the AlbaNova university centre which is jointly operated by Stockholm University and KTH. History The City of Stockholm operated an isolation hospital in ''Katarina kronobränneri'' in Södermalm since the 1820s, but developments in medicine created a need for more suitable buildings. Scarlet Fever
Scarlet fever, also known as scarlatina, is an infectious disease caused by ''Streptococcus pyogenes'', a Group A streptococcus (GAS). It most commonly affects children between five and 15 years of age. The signs and symptoms include a sore throat, fever, headache, cervical lymphadenopathy, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic rash. The face is flushed and the Exanthem, rash is Erythema, red and Blanch (medical), blanching. It typically feels like sandpaper and the tongue may be red and bumpy. The rash occurs as a result of capillary damage by exotoxins produced by ''S.pyogenes''. On darker-pigmented skin the rash may be hard to discern. Scarlet fever develops in a small number of people who have strep throat or streptococcal skin infections. The bacteria are usually spread by people coughing or sneezing. The Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, or NORDITA, or Nordita (), is an international organisation for research in theoretical physics. It was established as Nordisk Institut for Teoretisk Atomfysik in 1957 by Niels Bohr and the Swedish physicist Torsten Gustafson. Henning Larsen
Henning Larsen (20 August 1925 – 22 June 2013) was a Danish architect. He is internationally known for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Riyadh and the Copenhagen Opera House. Larsen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1952. He continued studies subsequently at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His mentors included Arne Jacobsen and Jørn Utzon. Larsen founded an architectural firm that bears his name, Henning Larsen Architects (formerly Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S). From 1968 to 1995, he was a professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
