Rosir Calderón
Rosir Calderón Díaz (born 28 December 1984) is a Cuban-born Russian volleyball player who was a member of the Cuban women's national team that won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In November 2014, she received Russian Sport citizenship. She currently plays for the San Diego Mojo in the US Pro Volleyball Federation. Personal life Calderón was born in Havana, Cuba, on 28 December 1984, and is the daughter of former national coach Luis Calderon, Luis Felipe Calderón and former Morenas del Caribe World Champion Erenia Díaz. She is tall and weighs . She moved to Russia, getting married there. In November 2014, she received her Russian sport nationality from the FIVB, in addition to her already own civil Russian passport. Central American And Caribbean Games
The Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC or CACGs) are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial (once every four years), typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for 32 countries and five territories in Central America, the Caribbean ( Caribbean Countries), Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. 2006 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship
The 2006 FIVB Women's World Championship was the fifteenth edition of the competition, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament was held from 31 October to 16 November 2006 in Japan. The finals involved 24 teams, of which 22 came through qualifying competitions, while the host nation and reign champion qualified automatically. Of the 32 teams, 16 had also appeared in the previous tournament in 2002, while Cameroon, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Serbia and Montenegro made their first appearances at a FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship. The NORCECA qualification for the 2006 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship saw member nations compete for six places at the finals in Japan. Draw 19 NORCECA national teams entered qualification. 2005 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix
The FIVB World Grand Prix 2005 was the thirteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, which is the female equivalent of the Men's Volleyball World League. The 2005 edition was played by twelve countries from June 24 to July 18, 2005, with the final round held at the Sendai Gymnasium in Sendai, Japan. Hosts Japan and the top five ranked teams after the preliminary rounds qualified for the last round. The competition of the 2005 WGP lasted four weeks with a total number of 69 matches. During the first, second and third week: 18 matches per team were played with a total of 54 matches. The Cuba women's national volleyball team was the first team to break the USSR's and Japan's domination in the world women's volleyball by winning the 1978 World Women's Volleyball Championship. Luis Calderon
Luis Felipe Calderón Blet (2 May 1952 – 17 June 2009), also known as Luis Felipe Calderón, was a Cuban volleyball player and coach. Calderón competed with the Cuban men's national volleyball team at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. The year before, in 1971, he won a gold medal with the Cuban team at the Pan American Games in Cali. Coaching Calderón was the head coach of the Cuban women's national volleyball team for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, winning a gold medal and a bronze medal, respectively. He also coached the Cuban women during the 2002 FIVB World Championship in Germany and the 2006 FIVB World Championship in Japan.
