Rosewood Railway Line
The Ipswich and Rosewood line refers to the section of the Main Line to Toowoomba that has a regular suburban rail service, extending southwest from the Brisbane central business district. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History Main Line The Main Line railway from Ipswich to Brisbane was opened in 1876, as part of an extension of the first railway line from Ipswich to Bigge's Camp (now Grandchester) on 31 July 1865. Originally built as single track, the section was duplicated from 1885 to 1887, indicating how quickly the traffic volume grew on the line. The Albert Bridge was built to accommodate two tracks in 1876, though only one was laid at the time. The line west of Ipswich was duplicated to Wulkuraka in 1902 and to Grandchester (past Rosewood) in 1913. Albert Bridge, Brisbane
Albert Bridge is a heritage-listed railway bridge of steel truss design crossing the Brisbane River between Indooroopilly and Chelmer in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Henry Charles Stanley and built from 1894 to 1895 by John McCormick & Son as a replacement for an earlier bridge lost to flooding in 1893. Both bridges were named in honour of the Prince of Wales, Prince Albert. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. The Albert Bridge links Indooroopilly and Chelmer railway station. The structure consists of two steel spans supported by masonry abutments and a central concrete pier that is encased in an iron caisson. A footway was provided on the upstream side. Springfield Railway Line
Springfield railway line is a suburban railway line in Brisbane, Australia that branches from the Ipswich/Rosewood line after Darra railway station. Construction of the line started on , and it opened on 2 December 2013. The line was developed along with the widening of the nearby Centenary Motorway. The line speed is rated for speeds of up to in most sections. However, only the interurban multiple unit 100 and 120 series and New Generation Rollingstock trains can run at the full speed of the line. The current timetable is based on a top speed of between Richlands and Springfield stations, which is faster than the Centenary Motorway that runs alongside. Corinda, Queensland
Corinda is a Suburbs and localities (Australia), suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Corinda had a population of 5,555 people. History The suburb takes its name from the Corinda railway station, which in turn was likely named after a local cattle station owned by Sir Arthur Hunter Palmer, Arthur Palmer, which he named after his Corinda pastoral station near Aramac. Corinda was first settled by non-indigenous people in the 1860s as a small farming community. Among the original settlers was the Francis family who in 1862 purchased 21 acres, which extended from the Brisbane River to Francis Lookout, a local heritage listed landmark on Dewar Terrace. Francis Lookout survives to this day, and includes a small burial ground opened in 1862. Its ten graves include those of some of the pioneer settlers.
