''The Sun'' is a British Tabloid journalism, tabloid newspaper, published by the News UK#News Group Newspapers Ltd, News Group Newspapers division of News UK, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Lachlan Murdoch's News Corp. It was founded as a broadsheet in 1964 as a successor to the ''Daily Herald (UK newspaper), Daily Herald'', and became a tabloid in 1969 after it was purchased by its current owner. The ''Donegal News'' (also known as ''Derry People/Donegal News'' and formerly ''Derry People'') is a twice-weekly local newspaper in the northwest of the island of Ireland, first published in 1902. Originally covering Derry, Northern Ireland, it moved across the border to Letterkenny, County Donegal, at the beginning of the World War II, Second World War and took on more of a Donegal focus. The Southern Star (County Cork)
''The Southern Star'' is a weekly regional newspaper based in Skibbereen, County Cork in Ireland and was established in 1889 as the ''Cork County Southern Star'', by brothers Florence and John O'Sullivan. One of its rival newspapers in the 19th century was ''The Skibbereen Eagle'', founded in 1857. It had become "famous by declaring it was 'keeping an eye on the Czar of Russia' over his expansionist designs on China". On the centenary of the event, Brendan McWilliams gave a slightly different account in ''The Irish Times'', saying that on 5 September 1898 ''The Skibbereen Eagles editorial stated "We will still keep our eye on the Emperor of Russia and on all such despotic enemies, whether at home or abroad, of human progression and man's natural rights.". ''The Echo'', formerly known as the ''Evening Echo'', is an Irish morning newspaper based in Cork. It is distributed throughout the province of Munster, although it is primarily read in its base city of Cork. The newspaper was founded as a broadsheet in 1892, and has been published in tabloid format since 1991. The newspaper was part of the Thomas Crosbie Holdings group, and 'sister paper' to the group's ''Irish Examiner'' (formerly the ''Cork Examiner''). ''The Corkman'' is a weekly Irish regional newspaper based in County Cork. It is part of the Corkman Group and owned by Independent News and Media. The paper, based in Mallow, was primarily a North Cork newspaper. As of 2009, ''The Corkman'' was published in three editions, covering North Cork, Muskerry and Avondhu. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it had an average circulation of 8,186 for the period ending June 2005. History ''The Corkman'' was first published in the 1950s. ''The Clare Champion'' is a weekly local newspaper in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. It was founded in 1903 after ''The Clare Man'' was forced to close. Andy McEvoy came to the paper in 1925 as editor. He retired in 1950. ''The Nationalist'' is an Irish regional newspaper, published each Tuesday in Carlow. It has three comprehensive sections, containing news, sport and 'living' articles. History The first edition of ''The Nationalist and Leinster Times'' was published on Browne Street, Carlow in 1883. It later moved to 58 Dublin Street and then to its offices Tullow Street, which the newspaper occupied until December 2005.
