Rosalind Bailey
Rosalind Bailey (born 1944) is a British actress, known for her portrayal of Sarah Headley (''née'' Lytton) in the 1970s and 1980s BBC television drama ''When the Boat Comes In''. Bailey has appeared in numerous British television drama series, including ''Byker Grove'', '' Distant Shores,'' '' Burn Up, and as a nurse in the last episode of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads''. When The Boat Comes In
''When the Boat Comes In'' is a British television period drama produced by the BBC between 8 January 1976 and 21 April 1981. Across the whole series, events are set in the time period from 1919 to 1937. The series stars James Bolam as Jack Ford, a World War I, First World War veteran who returns to his poverty-stricken (fictional) town of Gallowshield in the North East England, North East of England. The series dramatises the Interwar Britain, interwar political struggles of the 1920s and 1930s and explores the impact of national and international politics upon Ford and the people around him. ''Byker Grove'' is a British teen drama and coming of age television series which aired between 1989 and 2006 on BBC One. The show was set in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne and was filmed in nearby Benwell. It was created by writer Adele Rose and executive producer Andrea Wonfor. The show was broadcast at 5:10 pm after '' Newsround'' (later moved to 5 pm). It was aimed at an older teenager and young adult audience, tackling serious and sometimes controversial storylines. ''Distant Shores'' is a comedy-drama first shown in the United Kingdom on ITV in January 2005. Like the similar fish out of water dramedies, ''Northern Exposure'' and ''Doc Martin'', it focuses on the difficulties of an unwillingly-transplanted metropolitan doctor who is forced to adjust to a rural environment. Concept Peter Davison plays a successful London plastic surgeon Bill Shore. ''Burn Up'' is a 2008 BBC Television, BBC/Global Television Network, Global Drama dealing with the issues of climate change and peak oil. Plot summary Episode one Oil surveyor Masud Khamil narrowly escapes an attack on his camp in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and flees with some valuable data. Tom McConnell replaces his father-in-law Sir Mark Foxbay as Chairman of Arrow Oil. At the celebration party, Inuit activist Mika Namuvai enters uninvited and serves Tom a writ from her people. The writ decries global warming and its causes, such as Arrow's production facility on the Athabasca tar sands. Alan Bennett
Alan Bennett (born 9 May 1934) is an English actor, author, playwright and screenwriter. He has received numerous awards and honours including four BAFTA Awards, four Laurence Olivier Awards, and two Tony Awards. In 2005 he received the Society of London Theatre Special Award. Bennett was born in Leeds and attended Oxford University. He taught medieval history at the university for several years. His work in the satirical revue '' Beyond the Fringe'' at the 1960 Edinburgh Festival brought him instant fame and later a Special Tony Award. He turned to writing full time and gained acclaim with his plays at the Royal National Theatre.
