Ronnie C. Matias (born November 29, 1983) is a Filipino professional basketball player for Caloocan Batang Kankaloo franchise of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and Pilipinas Super League (PSL). Matias was drafted 9th overall in the first round of the 2009 PBA draft by the Burger King Titans. Reed Juntilla
Reed Friar Juntilla (born June 22, 1984) is a Filipino former professional basketball player. Career Juntilla played for Mail and More Comets and Hapee Complete Protectors, Hapee Toothpaste in the Philippine Basketball League. He was eligible for the 2007 PBA draft but no team drafted him. His skills is common to Cyrus Baguio, a slasher and a shooter. He was signed as a free agent by Barako Bull Energy Boosters, Red Bull in 2008. After the 2008 PBA Fiesta Conference ended, Juntilla faced possible revocation of his contract for going AWOL. Then-Barako Bull Energy Boosters, Barako Bull coach Yeng Guiao wanted Juntilla to be waived because of his sudden absence just after signing a two-year contract with the team. Jay-R C. Reyes (born July 16, 1984) is a Filipino former professional basketball player who last played for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters of the Philippine Basketball Association. Professional career Reyes was the youngest player in the 2006–07 PBA season at only 22 years of age. He played 35 games and he averaged 12.51 points per game, 1.57 blocks per game and 8.89 rebounds per game. He was one of the rookies who led the PBA in the top ten in the rebound category. Solomon Jemuel Rayos Mercado (born May 6, 1984) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as the "Sol-Train", he had an impressive PBA rookie season and eventually became a reliable point guard for most of the teams he played for. Ronald Jayson Buenafe (born May 27, 1983) is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the Valenzuela XUR Homes Realty Inc. of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Professional career Being called as the "steal" of the 2007 draft, he performed well during his rookie season as a scoring guard. With the help of the then newly acquired Asi Taulava, they led the Tigers past the wildcard and faced the Alaska Aces in the quarterfinals where they lost 3-0. The following conference, their team had a more successful eliminations compiling a 10-8 record. Once again, they ended their run at the quarterfinals, this time at the hands of the Magnolia Beverage Masters. The 2009 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) rookie draft was an event at which teams drafted players from the amateur ranks. The event was held at Market! Market! in Taguig on August 2, 2009. The Burger King Whoppers selected Japeth Aguilar of the Ateneo de Manila University and Western Kentucky University as the number one draft pick. Players applied for the draft had undergone a three-day rookie camp. This is the only draft wherein a draft pick held by a defunct franchise was not retained by a new team which purchased that franchise (the second overall pick originally held by Shell was not inherited by Rain or Shine). The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) was a commercial semi-professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league was composed of several commercial teams with several collegiate and provincial stars. History The PBL was formed on May 6, 1983, a brainchild of San Miguel Corporation chairman Danding Cojuangco, under its original name the Philippine Amateur Basketball League (PABL). It was the successor of the defunct Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), which folded during the early-1980s. The 2024–25 Pilipinas Super League season, also known as the President's Cup, was the fourth season of the Pilipinas Super League (PSL) Pro Division. The regular season began on December 21, 2024 and ended on February 11, 2025. Teams In the lead-up to the President's Cup 2024–2025, the league gradually revealed the teams that would take part in the season. Only three teams made their return from previous seasons: the Biñan Tatak Gel, Caloocan Supremos, and San Juan Kings.
