Ronald Wright (6 May 1949 - 11 October 1983) was a Scotland international rugby union player. Rugby Union career Amateur career He played for Edinburgh University. He moved on to play for Edinburgh Wanderers. Moving to England, he then played for Richmond in London. Provincial career He played for Edinburgh District in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. He played for Middlesex against Gloucestershire in the English county championship of the 1975-76 season. International career He was capped by Scotland 'B' on 11 November 1972 to play against France 'B' while still playing with Edinburgh University and Edinburgh Wanderers. France 'B' won the match 17 - 15 and ''The Glasgow Herald'' noted: Apart from the solid front row, only one Scot, Wright, did himself justice. It was he that kept Scotland in contention at the touchline, and his aggressive work elsewhere, notably in ruck drive and maul wrestling, should have served as a reminder to others. Hillingdon
Hillingdon is an area of Uxbridge within the London Borough of Hillingdon, centred 14.2 miles (22.8 km) west of Charing Cross. It was an ancient parish in Middlesex that included the market town of Uxbridge. During the 1920s the civil parishes in England, civil parish bore Metro-land, a rapid, planned increase in population and housing, and was absorbed by Municipal Borough of Uxbridge, Uxbridge Urban District in 1929. Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union
The Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union is the union responsible for rugby union in the county of Gloucestershire, England and is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union. Formed in 1878, it has won the county championship on numerous occasions. History The Union was formed at a meeting held at Gloucester in September, 1878. At that meeting, the clubs represented were Clifton RFC, Gloucester RFC, Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester RFC, Rockleage, Stroud, and Cheltenham White Cross. The Union was formed mainly due to the efforts of J. D. Miller, J. H. Dunn, and J. F. Brown. all of whom were amongst the Union's first officers. Scottish Inter-District Championship
The Scottish Inter-District Championship is a rugby union competition between regional sides in Scotland. Established in 1953, the tournament went through several formats. The Scottish Rugby Union confirmed in January 2023 that the Scottish Inter-District Championship would return for the 2022-23 season, starting in May 2023. The Inter-District Championship will be an amateur championship with players selected outwith the professional United Rugby Championship and Super 6 leagues. Instead the players will be selected from the amateur leagues of Scotland; the Scottish Premiership and the national leagues below.
