Ronald Powell (footballer)
Ronald "Ronnie" Powell (born 19 November 1947) is an English former footballer. Powell came from Leeds to Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, at the age of 21 as a foreign exchange student to work at the local paper mill. While there he met his future wife and this led to him staying. Powell, an amateur footballer back in England, started playing for Husums IF, a small club in the lower tiers located outside Örnsköldsvik. After a couple of seasons he was contracted by Brynäs IF, then in the Swedish 2nd division. Brynäs was promoted to the top tier after the 1973 season and on 13 April 1974, he became the first foreign player in Allsvenskan when debuting in the Brynäs IF away game against Halmstads BK. In his next game, against IFK Norrköping he became the first foreign player to score a goal in Allsvenskan. Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Brynäs IF Fotboll
Brynäs IF is a Swedish football club located in Gävle. Background Formed in 1912, Brynäs Idrottsförening has played only one season in the highest Swedish division, Allsvenskan (1974). The club won the Swedish Championship in 1925. Brynäs IF merged with Gefle IF and played under the name Gefle IF/Brynäs between the 1979 and 1981 seasons, but the merger was split up in 1982. Örnsköldsvik (; ), often shortened to just Ö-vik, is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Örnsköldsvik Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden, with 32,953 inhabitants in 2017. Magnus Powell
Magnus Powell (born 28 October 1974) is a Swedish football coach and a former striker who is the head coach of KÍ Klaksvik. Club career Powell was born in Örnsköldsvik to English footballer Ronald Powell. He played in the Swedish Allsvenskan from 1995 to 1999 for Helsingborgs IF and Örebro SK. He was an important part of the 1999 Helsingborg team that won the championship in Sweden scoring 8 goals in 24 matches. At the start of the 2000-season Powell was sold to Lillestrøm SK for £350,000 to replace Icelandic international Heiðar Helguson. Although he has struggled with injuries Powell has been a key-member of the Lillestrøm squad since arriving in 2000, scoring 29 goals in 73 league matches. During his last seasons with Lillestrøm he was the team captain. On 26 January 2006, Magnus Powell was transferred from Lillestrøm to FC Lyn Oslo for NOK 500,000.
