Ron Weidberg
Ron Weidberg (Hebrew: רון וידברג, born 1953 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli composer, musicologist, and pianist. His works have been performed by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra anthe Israel Camerata Jerusalem among others. Biography Ron Weidberg studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel-Aviv Academy of Music with Leon Schidlowsky and Yizhak Sadai. He later received his master's degree at Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University Bienen School of Music in Evanstone, Illinois, USA. In 2000 he received his doctorate degree in musicology at Tel Aviv University Tel Aviv University. The dissertation title was: "The Evolution of Sonic Design in the Jean Sibelius's Orchestral Music 1892-1914". Mordechai Geldman
Mordechai Geldman ( he, מרדכי גלדמן; 16 April 1946 – 8 October 2021) was an Israeli poet, non-fiction writer, artist, art critic and curator, and psychologist. His poems were translated into many languages, including the collection ''Years I Walked at Your Side'' published in 2018 by SUNY Press. He received awards including the Bialik Prize for his life achievements. Biography Geldman was born at a displaced persons camp in Munich to Polish parents who had survived the Holocaust. His family immigrated to Israel in 1949 and settled in Tel Aviv, where he lived ever since. He studied world literature and clinical psychology at Bar Ilan University. He was an independent psychotherapist using psychoanalytical methods. Geldman published 18 poetry books, a book of short stories, and six non-fiction books. Israel Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra
The Israel Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra (abbreviated IKO) is an orchestra established in 1970. Its offices are situated in Netanya, Israel. The Orchestra performs 120 concerts every season, presenting imaginative, up-to-date and refreshing artistic programs. Its original and experiential approach - classical pieces alongside folklore and jazz, and combinations of different styles-artistic, vocal and visual – are what build up its uniqueness. Israel Chamber Orchestra (abbreviation ICO, Hebrewהתזמורת הקאמרית הישראלית (''Hatizmoret hakamerit'') is an Israeli orchestra based in Tel Aviv. Primary funding comes from the Israel Ministry of Education and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. History Gary Bertini founded the orchestra in 1965 and was its first artistic director, for 10 years. The ICO's first US appearance was in New York in 1969. Luciano Berio was the ICO's artistic director in 1975. Rudolf Barshai led the ICO from 1976 to 1981. Kurt Masur
Kurt Masur (18 July 1927 – 19 December 2015) was a German conductor. Called "one of the last old-style maestros", he directed many of the principal orchestras of his era. He had a long career as the Kapellmeister of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and also served as music director of the New York Philharmonic. He left many recordings of classical music played by major orchestras. Masur is also remembered for his actions to support peaceful demonstrations in the 1989 anti-government demonstrations in Leipzig; the protests were part of the events leading up to the fall of the Berlin wall. Yoel Levi
Yoel Levi (Hebrew: יואל לוי) (born 16 August 1950) is an Israeli musician and conductor. Early life Born in Romania, Levi grew up in Israel. He studied at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music, receiving a Master of Arts degree with distinction. He continued studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music with Mendi Rodan. He also studied with Franco Ferrara in Siena and Rome, with Kirill Kondrashin in the Netherlands, and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Career Levi won first prize at the International Conductors Competition in Besançon in 1978. Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion
The Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion (ISO) (in hebrew: התזמורת הסימפונית הישראלית ראשון לציון) was founded in 1988 by the municipality of Rishon LeZion. A year later, in 1989, it became the resident orchestra of the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. Like the opera orchestra, ISO participates in all performances of Israeli opera at the Tel Aviv opera and in the great outdoor performances, crowned in recent years with performances at the Masada Festival. Among the musical directors of the orchestra are: Shimon Cohen, Noam Sheriff, Asher Fisch, Mendi Rodan, Dan Ettinger and James Judd.
