Ron Groenewoud (born 24 January 1937) is a former Dutch footballer and football manager. Playing career During his football career, he played as a defender for Velocitas 1897 from Groningen. Managerial career After his playing career, he was assistant coach at Sparta for three years, under head coaches Denis Neville and Bill Thompson. Afterwards, he managed Holland Sport, Heerenveen, FC Groningen and various teams of the Royal Dutch Football Association The Royal Dutch Football Association (, ; KNVB ) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. Grootegast
Grootegast (; fy, Gruttegast) is a village and former municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. It is the sister city of Kingston, Tasmania. The municipality was merged into the municipality of Westerkwartier on 1 January 2019. Geography The former municipality contained the population centres: Doezum, Enumatil, Faan, Grootegast, Kornhorn, Lutjegast, Niekerk, Oldekerk, Opende, Sebaldeburen. 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship
The 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship was the first ever FIFA Futsal World Championship, the quadrennial international futsal championship contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It was held between 5 and 15 January 1989 in the Netherlands. It was the first non-Olympic FIFA tournament held in the country. Brazil won the tournament. Participants 16 countries were invited to participate to the tournament. 6 from Europe, 3 from South America, 2 from North America, Africa and Asia respectively and 1 from Oceania. Futsal Coaches
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique.
