Ron Davis (basketball)
Ronald Howard Davis (born May 1, 1954) is a retired professional basketball small forward who spent three seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlanta Hawks (1976–77) and the San Diego Clippers (1980–82). He attended Washington State University and was drafted during the fifth round of the 1976 NBA draft by the Hawks. Davis played in the Eastern Basketball Association (EBA) / Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Anchorage Northern Knights from 1977 to 1980 and during the 1981–82 season, and the Billings Volcanos during the 1982–83 season. He won a CBA championship with the Northern Knights in 1980. He was selected as the CBA Most Valuable Player in 1980, a member of the All-EBA/CBA First Team from 1978 to 1980 and a member of the All-CBA Second Team in 1982. Continental Basketball Association MVP Award
The Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Player of the Year, formerly known as the Eastern Basketball Association (EBA) Most Valuable Player and the CBA Most Valuable Player, was an annual award given to the best player in the CBA. The winner was selected by a vote of the league's head coaches. Twenty-three of the winners have been guards, 30 have been forwards, and only four have been centers. There have been two players— Jack McCloskey and Vincent Askew—who were two time recipients of the award. The Scranton Miners/Apollos have had six players named the EBA Most Valuable Player. 1976 NBA Draft
The 1976 NBA draft was the 30th annual draft of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The draft was held on June 8, 1976, before the 1976–77 season. In this draft, 18 NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. The first two picks in the draft belonged to the teams that finished last in each conference, with the order determined by a coin flip. The Atlanta Hawks won the coin flip and were awarded the first overall pick, while the Chicago Bulls were awarded the second pick.
