Ron Balicki
Ron Balicki (born September 2, 1963) is an American actor and stuntman for various films and television series. He is also a well known martial arts practitioner, teacher and author. He is a student and the son-in-law of Dan Inosanto. Biography Balicki grew up in Chicago, Illinois. In 1987 he became a Deputy Sheriff for Cook County, Illinois. He helped form a "Special Operations Resistance Team" which trained officers in riot control. Around this time he served as bodyguard for Hollywood movie and music stars including Steven Seagal, Public Enemy, Kid 'n Play, Queen Latifah and D.J. Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith. On 6 December 1995 he married Diana Lee Inosanto, daughter of Dan Inosanto. They have two sons. Eskrima
Arnis, also known as Kali or Eskrima/Escrima, is the national martial art of the Philippines. The three are roughly interchangeable umbrella terms for the traditional martial arts of the Philippines (" Filipino Martial Arts", or FMA), which emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives, bladed weapons, and various improvised weapons, as well as "open hand" techniques without weapons. There have been campaigns for arnis to be nominated in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists, along with other Philippine martial arts. Lameco Escrima
Lameco Eskrima is the system of Filipino martial arts founded by Edgar Sulite based on his training and experience with various Philippine Martial Arts masters, with heavy influence from Jose Caballero and Antonio Ilustrisimo. The word Lameco is actually a combination of words which are the three basic ranges of combat involved in the study and practice of Lameco Eskrima - ''La''rgo, ''Me''dio and ''Co''rto (Long, Middle, and Close). Edgar Sulite
Edgar Sulite (September 25, 1957 – April 10, 1997) was a teacher of Filipino martial arts. He was the creator of Lameco Eskrima and trained such notables as Dan Inosanto, Ron Balicki, Larry Hartsell, Fred Degerberg, and Diana Lee Inosanto. Sulite trained with several martial arts masters, including Leo Gaje of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, Antonio "Tatang" Ilustrisimo of Kalis Ilustrisimo, Jose D. Caballero of De Campo Uno-Dos-Tres Orihinal, and Jesus Abella of Modern Largos. He created a new style and called it Lameco Eskrima. The name was a combination of the Largo (long), Medio (Medium), and Corto (close quarter) techniques that he learned during his studies of Filipino martial arts. Shoot wrestling is a combat sport that originated in Japan's professional wrestling circuit of the 1970s. Professional wrestlers of that era attempted to use more realistic or even "full contact" moves in their matches to increase their excitement. Yorinaga Nakamura
, also known as Yori Nakamura, is a retired Japanese shoot wrestler and an instructor in shoot wrestling, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Silat, and Muay Thai. Life and career Nakamura had trained in various martial arts, among them kickboxing, wushu and Kansui-ryu karate, until February 1984 when he enrolled at the Tiger Gym of Satoru Sayama. In November 1985, he became a full-time staff member of Sayama's gym. He trained in Sayama's style of shoot wrestling and in June 1986, he competed at the tournament celebrated in the first Shooto event. He won the first fight by decision, the second by rear naked choke, the third by keylock and the last by pillow hold, winning the tournament.
