Alexei Romanenko
Alexei Romanenko is a Russian-born cellist. Romanenko was born in Vladivostok, Russia, Romanenko began playing the cello at six-years old. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under cello professor Valentin Feygin. In 1998, Romanenko moved to the United States where he received his Artist Diploma and continued and completed his studies with cello professors Bernard Greenhouse and Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory of Music. Alexei Romanenko has performed at venues such as Boston's Jordan Hall, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., Chicago's Preston Bradley Hall among many others. Prokofy Romanenko
Prokofy Logvinovich Romanenko (; – 10 March 1949) was a Ukrainian Soviet Army colonel general. Serving in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I, Romanenko joined the Red Army during the Russian Civil War, becoming a cavalry commander. He quickly moved up in rank during the interwar period, fighting in the Spanish Civil War as an adviser and in the Winter War as commander of the 10th Tank Corps. After commanding a rifle corps and the 1st Mechanized Corps, he led the 17th Army in the Soviet Far East from early 1941. He was sent west to command the 3rd Tank Army in May 1942, leading it during the failed Kozelsk Offensive in the summer. Afterwards, Romanenko was transferred to lead the 5th Tank Army in Operation Uranus, the Soviet counteroffensive in the Battle of Stalingrad. Yuri Viktorovich Romanenko (russian: Ю́рий Ви́кторович Романе́нко; born 1 August 1944) is a former Soviet cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union (March 16, 1978 and September 26, 1980). Over his career, Yuri Romanenko spent a total of 430 days 20 hours 21 minutes 30 seconds in space and 18 hours in space walks. In 1987 he was a resident of the Mir space station, launching on Soyuz TM-2 and landing aboard Soyuz TM-3. He remained on Mir for 326 days; that was the longest stay in space at that time. His son, Roman Romanenko is also a cosmonaut, and has become the third second-generation space traveler on Soyuz TMA-15 in May 2009.
