Roman Stantien
Roman Stantien (born 16 October 1964) is a former Slovakia, Slovak professional ice hockey player, and later hockey coach. He played with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga. He played also for HK Poprad, HC Dukla Trenčín, HC Vsetín, HC Vítkovice, Amur Khabarovsk and MsHK Žilina. He represented Slovakia at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano (city), Nagano. In 2009 he ended his active career. Centre (ice Hockey)
The centre (or center in American English) in ice hockey is a forward (ice hockey), forward position of a player whose primary Hockey rink#Zones, zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. Tipsport Liga (hockey)
The Slovak Extraliga, known as the Tipsport liga since the 2025–26 Slovak Extraliga season, 2025–26 season for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From 2018–19 Slovak Extraliga season, 2018–19 to 2020–21, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. Teams from the Extraliga can participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL). Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the KHL). The 1992–93 Czechoslovak Extraliga season was the 50th season of the Czechoslovak Extraliga, the top level of ice hockey in Czechoslovakia. 14 teams participated in the league, and HC Sparta Prague won the championship. TJ ŠKP PS Poprad
HK Poprad is a professional ice hockey team in the Slovak Extraliga, the top ice hockey league in Slovakia. It plays its games in Poprad, Slovakia. The squad's greatest successes include 2nd place in the Slovak Extraliga in 2006, 2011 and 2021. The team finished in the standings of the 2023-2024 season in 1st place, with a record of 27 wins and 15 losses. The club is nicknamed ''Kamzíci'', which means "Chamoises" in Slovak. History HK Poprad, in its current incarnation, was founded in 1935 by the merger of two existing teams. Those teams were "SK Vysoke Tatry" (founded in 1926), and a team called "HC Poprad" (founded in 1929 as "Karpathenverein Poprad", name changed to "HC Poprad" in 1930). The Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League was the elite ice hockey league in Czechoslovakia from 1936 until 1993, when the country split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the Official (ice hockey)#Referees, referee, or in some cases, the Official (ice hockey)#Linesmen, linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short handed, short-handed as opposed to full strength. When the opposing team is said to be on a ''Power play (ice hockey), power play'', they will have one more player on the ice than the short-handed team. The short-handed team is said to be "on the penalty kill" until the penalty expires and the penalized player returns to play.
