David Clayton-Thomas
David Clayton-Thomas (born David Henry Thomsett, 13 September 1941) is a Grammy Award-winning Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the American band Blood, Sweat & Tears. Clayton-Thomas has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and in 2007 his jazz/rock composition "Spinning Wheel (song), Spinning Wheel" was enshrined in the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame. In 2010, Clayton-Thomas received his star on Canada's Walk of Fame. Clayton-Thomas began his music career in the early 1960s, working the clubs on Toronto's Yonge Street, where he discovered his love of singing and playing the blues. Before moving to New York City in 1967, Clayton-Thomas fronted a couple of local bands, first The Shays and then The Bossmen, one of the earliest rock bands with significant jazz influences. Little Caesar And The Consuls
Little Caesar and the Consuls is a Canadian rock band, originally active in Toronto from 1961 to 1971. The earliest tangible evidence of a group by that name is in the February 23, 1961, issue of the Weston, Ontario, ''Times & Guide'', which mentions that they played for the Downsview Junior Teen Club's Valentine Party at Beverley Heights Junior High School the previous Saturday. Two members of Little Caesar and The Consuls, pianist and vocalist Bruce Morshead and saxophonist Norm Sherratt, had previously been part of a group named The Consuls after a popular automobile. In early 1959, disappointed with the lack of success and because Robbie Robertson refused to play bass, a role for which he had recently been hired, the five-piece Consuls disbanded. Robertson, guitarist and vocalist Gene MacLellan and drummer Peter DeRemigis promptly formed The Suedes, with Johnny Rhythm (real name, John Rutter) joining as a vocalist. The Paupers
The Paupers were a Canadian psychedelic rock band from Toronto, Ontario, who recorded between 1965 and 1968. They released two albums for Verve Forecast Records and appeared at the Monterey International Pop Festival. History Origins The group was formed as The Spats in Toronto during 1964 by ex-Riverside Three drummer Skip Prokop (born Ronald Harry Prokop; 1943–2017) and rhythm guitarist/vocalist Bill Marion a.k.a. Bill Misener. The other original members comprised lead guitarist Chuck Beal (b. 1944) and bass player Denny Gerrard (b. 1947). According to legend, The Spats rehearsed for 40 hours a week, sometimes on a 13-hour-a-day shift, and as a result became one of Toronto's tightest acts.
