Rohit Sharma (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian Cricket, international cricketer and the Captain (cricket), captain of the India national cricket team, national team in One Day International, ODIs. He is also a former captain in Tests and T20Is. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest T20I Batting order (cricket), opening batters of all time. Rohit is an Indian actor known for starring in Telugu-language film in the 2000s. Career Rohit worked as an assistant director under Tammareddy Bharadwaja in ''Swarnakka'' (1998) and made his lead debut with G. Nageswara Reddy's '' 6 Teens'' (2001). The film was a box office success and he became popular for the song "Devudu Varamandiste Ne Ninne Korukuntaale". Regarding his performance in '' Muthyam'', a critic wrote that he "tried to do behavioral acting. But he lacks in the ease and spontaneity in his action". He then starred in a series of films that were box office flops with only '' Girl Friend'' (2002), his second collaboration with Nageswara Reddy, becoming successful. Rohit or Rohitas, also called Bhambi Rohit and Bhambi Khalpa, who are Bhambi sub-caste and sub-community from Gujarat, India. Rohit consider themselves to be followers or descendants of the Bhakti Movement saint Ravidas or Rohidas. Traditionally, they did leather or hide work and were identified as Khalpa. But in 1947, a group of Khalpa organized and decided to call themselves Rohit. They also abandoned all leather works but practiced consumption of non-veg. From the 1930-40s Rohits were active in changing their caste name from Khalpa to Rohit, like others such as Dheds to Mahyavanshis, Garua to Guru, and Bhangi to Rishi. Only Mahyavanshis were successful in getting official recognition from the Government of India to get a Kshatriya status officially.
