Maharashtra (; , abbr. MH or Maha) is a state in the western peninsular region of India occupying a substantial portion of the Deccan Plateau. Eknath Khadse
Eknath Khadse (born 2 September 1952) is a politician and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra state. He was a Member of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra from Muktainagar constituency for six consecutive terms till 2019. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 1987 until his resignation in October 2020. Political career Early years Khadse lost his first election when he contested the Gram panchayat elections in Kothadi village. Later he became ''sarpanch'' of Kothadi village in 1984, remaining sarpanch until 1987. In 1989, he was elected as member of the Maharashtra legislative assembly (MLA) for the Muktainagar constituency. Khadse entered in active politics as a BJP worker in the 1980s and helped the party BJP establish its base in North Maharashtra. In 1990's Khadse led karsevaks during Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Muktainagar is a town in the eastern part of Jalgaon district in northern Maharashtra and is the administrative seat of Muktainagar taluka. History During British rule, Muktainagar taluka was known as Edlabad petha and was part of East Khandesh district.
