Roh Jae-won
Roh Jae-won (; born 13 October 1993) is a South Korean actor who is best known for his performance in ''Squid Game'' (2024–2025). He previously starred in the series ''Daily Dose of Sunshine'' (2023) and ''Doubt'' (2024). Career Roh made his debut in 2020 with his appearance in the short film ''Driving School'' (). In November 2023, Roh acted the part of a patient with delusional disorder named Kim Seo-wan in the series ''Daily Dose of Sunshine''. Roh realistically portrayed the difficulty navigating the blurred boundaries between reality and dreams and was praised for his in-depth emotional expression. In October 2024, Roh starred in the television series ''Doubt'' (2024) as a police officer in the criminal behavior analysis team alongside actor Han Suk-kyu. ''Squid Game'' () is a South Korean Utopian and dystopian fiction, dystopian Survival film, survival Thriller (genre)#Television, thriller horror television series created, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix. The series revolves around a secret contest where 456 players, all of whom are in deep financial hardship, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children's games for the chance to win a prize. The series' title draws from ''Squid (game), ojingeo'' ("squid"), a Korean children's game. Lee Jung-jae, who portrays series protagonist Seong Gi-hun, leads an ensemble cast. Hwang conceived the idea based on his own economic struggles, as well as the Economic inequality in South Korea, class disparity in South Korea and capitalism. Although he wrote the story in 2009, Hwang could not find a production company to fund the idea until Netflix took an interest around 2019 as part of a drive to expand their foreign programming offerings.
