Roger Johnson (TV Presenter)
Roger Johnson (born 1969) is an English television journalist, newsreader and presenter, currently working as the main presenter for the regional news programme ''BBC North West Tonight'', as well as a regular weekend presenter of ''BBC Breakfast'' and other national BBC News platforms. Early life Johnson was born in the former mining village of Chesterton, in Staffordshire in 1969, and grew up in the market town of Newcastle-under-Lyme (also in Staffordshire). He is the son of BBC Radio Stoke commentator Nigel Johnson. Education Johnson was educated at Newcastle-under-Lyme School, an independent school in his hometown, followed by the University of Birmingham and the University of California, Berkeley. Chesterton, Staffordshire
Chesterton is a former Pit village, mining village on the edge of Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Newcastle-under-Lyme district, in Staffordshire, England. Chesterton is the second largest individual ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. In the 2011 census, Chesterton's population stood at 7,421. History Roman Chesterton Chesterton was the site of a Castra, Roman fort, built on an area now occupied by Chesterton Community Sports College. There is little indication of how long the fort was in use but it is believed to have been constructed in the late 1st Century AD. A vicus was built at nearby Holditch (ward), Holditch, where it is believed that some inhabitants may have coal mining, mined for coal. There have been various excavations at the site. Sally Taylor MBE (born 24 February 1957) is an English journalist and presenter. She is best known for presenting BBC ''South Today''. Biography She attended The Abbey School, Reading, an independent school. Before beginning her career as a presenter and journalist, she was an English teacher at Winstanley Community College, Leicester. She presented ''South Today'', the flagship news programme of BBC South, from 1987 until 2025. Taylor also writes a weekly column in the Southern Daily Echo. Anders Behring Breivik (; born 13 February 1979), officially named Fjotolf Hansen from 2017 to 2025, and Far Skaldigrimmr Rauskjoldr av Northriki since March 2025, is a Norwegian neo-Nazi terrorist and mass murderer. He carried out the 2011 Norway attacks in which he killed eight people by detonating a van bomb at Regjeringskvartalet in Oslo, and then killed 69 participants of a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp, in a mass shooting on the island of Utøya. After Breivik was found psychologically competent to stand trial, his criminal trial was held in 2012. That year, Breivik was found guilty of mass murder, causing a fatal explosion, and terrorism. The Manchester Arena bombing, or Manchester Arena attack, was an Islamic terrorism in Europe, Islamic terrorist suicide bombing of Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, on 22 May 2017, following Dangerous Woman Tour, a concert by the American pop singer Ariana Grande. Hillsborough Disaster
The Hillsborough disaster was a fatal crowd crush at a football match at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, on 15 April 1989. It occurred during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the two standing-only central pens within the Leppings Lane stand allocated to Liverpool supporters. Shortly before kick-off, police match commander David Duckenfield ordered exit gate C to be opened in an attempt to ease crowding, which led to an influx of supporters entering the pens. This resulted in overcrowding of those pens and the fatal crush; with a total of 97 fatalities and 766 injuries, the disaster is the deadliest in British sporting history. Ninety-four people died on the day; one more died in hospital days later, Tony Bland died in 1993, and in 2021, Andrew Devine, the 97th person died.
