Roger Finnie
Roger Lewis Finnie (November 6, 1945 – August 6, 2012) was an American professional football offensive tackle and defensive tackle who played eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Finnie played college football for Florida A&M University. Finnie was an All-City team member at Miami Northwestern Senior High School and a key factor in Northwestern's state championship in 1964. At Florida A&M, Finnie garnered All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and All-American honors. Finnie was selected by the New York Jets in the 14th round of the 1969 NFL/AFL draft. He began his NFL career as a defensive tackle and also played offensive guard and tight end with the Jets. He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1973 where he was converted to a full-time offensive tackle. A tackle is a playing position in American football. Historically, in the one-platoon system prevalent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a tackle played on both offense and defense. In the modern system of specialized units, offensive tackle and defensive tackle are separate positions, and the stand-alone term "tackle" refers to the offensive tackle position only. The offensive tackle (OT, T), sometimes specified as left tackle (LT) or right tackle (RT), is a position on the offensive line that flanks the two guards. Like other offensive linemen, their objective is to block during each offensive play, physically preventing defenders from tackling or disrupting the offensive ball carrier with the intention of advancing the football downfield. Dan Dierdorf
Daniel Lee Dierdorf (born June 29, 1949) is an American sportscaster and former professional football player. He played 13 seasons (1971–1983) as an offensive tackle for the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Dierdorf played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 1968 to 1970 and was selected as a consensus All-America in 1970 and a first-team All-Big Ten Conference player in 1969 and 1970. He was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 1996 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Playing in the NFL for St. Louis, he was selected by the National Football League Players Association as the Offensive Lineman of the Year for three consecutive years from 1976 to 1978. National Football Conference
The National Football Conference (NFC) is a conference of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the United States. The NFC and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), each have 16 teams organized into four divisions. Both conferences were created as part of the 1970 NFL merger with the rival American Football League (AFL). All ten of the former AFL teams and three NFL teams formed the AFC while the remaining thirteen NFL clubs formed the NFC. A series of league expansions and division realignments have occurred since the merger, thus making a total of 16 clubs in each conference. Robert Allen Young (September 3, 1942 – June 17, 1995) was an American professional football player who was an offensive guard for 16 seasons in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets. Early life Young was born September 3, 1942, in Marshall, Texas, to Richard and Laverne Young. He spent his childhood in Brownwood, Texas where he set the state (class 4A) shot put record in 1960. College career Young started his college career at Texas where he was named the Southwest Conferences outstanding freshman lineman, but in 1961 he transferred to Howard Payne University to be closer to home. At HPU he competed in both football and track, where he threw the shot put. In 1986, he was inducted into the HPU Sports Hall of Fame.
