Roger Barows
Roger Barows ( Japanese: ロジャーバローズ, foaled 24 January 2016) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He showed some promise as a juvenile in 2018 when he won on his debut and ran second in his only other race. In the following spring he won a minor event in January and finished second in the Kyoto Shimbun Hai before recording an upset victory in the Tokyo Yushun. His racing career was ended by injury in August. Background Roger Barows is a bay colt with a white blaze bred in Japan by the Tobino Farm. As a foal in 2016 he was consigned to the Select Sale and was bought for ¥84,240,000 by Hirotsugu Inokuma. The colt was sent into training with Katsuhiko Sumii. He was from the ninth crop of foals sired by Deep Impact, who was the Japanese Horse of the Year in 2005 and 2006, winning races including the Tokyo Yushun, Tenno Sho, Arima Kinen and Japan Cup. Deep Impact (Japanese : ディープインパクト, March 25, 2002 – July 30, 2019) was a champion Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Japanese Triple Crown in 2005 and the Japan Cup in 2006, as well as three other Japan Grade One races. Background Deep Impact's sire Sunday Silence took over from perennial Japanese leading sire Northern Taste (10 time leading sire in Japan) and was leading sire in Japan 12 times. His dam, Wind In Her Hair, a Group One winner, finished second in The Oaks to super-filly Balanchine and was out of Burghclere, a daughter of dual-Classic winner Highclere, who was owned and bred by Queen Elizabeth II. Marialite (horse)
Marialite ( Japanese マリアライト, foaled 19 February 2011) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was slow to mature and did not race until she was three years old when she won two minor races. She finally emerged as a top class performer in 2015 when she won the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup. In the following year she recorded her biggest victory when she defeated male opposition to take the Takarazuka Kinen and received the JRA Award for Best Older Filly or Mare. Background Marialite is a brown mare bred in Japan by Northern Farm. During her racing career she was trained by Takashi Kubota and raced in the green, white and red colours of the Northern Farm affiliate U Carrot Farm. The Spring Stakes is a Japanese Grade 2 flat horse race in Japan for three-year-old Thoroughbred colts and fillies run over a distance of 1,800 metres at Nakayama Racecourse, Funabashi, Chiba. Graded Stakes Race
A graded stakes race is a thoroughbred horse race in the United States that meets the criteria of the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). A specific grade level (I, II, III or listed) is then assigned to the race, based on statistical analysis of the quality of the field in previous years, provided the race meets the minimum purse criteria for the grade in question. In Canada, a similar grading system is maintained by the Jockey Club of Canada. Graded stakes races are similar to Group races in Europe but the grading is more dynamic in North America. The grading system was designed in 1973 and first published in 1974. Donna Blini (foaled 27 March 2003) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was one of the best juvenile fillies of her generation in Britain in 2005 when she won three of her four races including the Cherry Hinton Stakes and the Cheveley Park Stakes.
