Roger Anderson (actor)
Roger Cole Anderson (November 11, 1942 – March 21, 2018) was an American football defensive tackle who played four seasons with the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia Union Panthers football, Virginia Union. He was drafted by the Giants in the 7th round of the 1964 NFL draft and the San Diego Chargers in the 7th round of the 1964 AFL Draft, and chose to sign with the Giants. A two-way player in college, Anderson was the primary right tackle for the Giants in his rookie season. The next season, he switched to defensive tackle and played in eight games. In 1966, after being cut by the Atlanta Falcons, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Anderson returned to the Giants during the 1967 season to play defensive tackle after the team suffered multiple injuries. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. The World Football League (WFL) was an American football league that played one full season in 1974 in sports, 1974 and most of its second in 1975 in sports, 1975. The ''Ottawa Journal'' was a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from 1885 to 1980. It was founded in 1885 by A. Woodburn as the ''Ottawa Evening Journal''. Its first editor was John Wesley Dafoe who came from the ''Winnipeg Free Press''. In 1886, it was bought by Philip Dansken Ross. The paper began publishing a morning edition in 1917.
