Roewe Vehicles
Roewe () is an Automotive industry, automotive brand owned by the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor since 2006. Roewe vehicles were initially based on technology acquired from defunct British carmaker MG Rover. SAIC was unable to purchase the rights to the Rover (marque), Rover brand name (which was retained by BMW, subsequently sold to Ford Motor Company, Ford and ultimately returned to Jaguar Land Rover) and created the Roewe marque as a replacement. Roewe vehicles are sold in most export markets outside China under the MG Motor, MG marque. Rover 75
The Rover 75 is a car which was manufactured from 1998 to 2005 and sold under the British Rover marque. It is a large family car and came in four-door saloon and five-door estate body styles. Initially built only with front-wheel drive, a rear-wheel drive variant with a V8 engine was later sold. There was also an extended-wheelbase model. In 2001, MG Rover launched a badge engineered variant, the MG ZT. A coupé concept was built, but did not receive further development. Rover 75s were manufactured by the Rover Group at Cowley, Oxfordshire for one year. After owner BMW sold Rover, the 75 was manufactured by the new MG Rover Group at their Longbridge site in Birmingham. The Roewe Jing is a compact crossover SUV produced by SAIC Motor under the Roewe brand. The vehicle was unveiled at Auto Shanghai in China in April 2021 as a concept car. Overview The name “Jing” is Chinese language, Chinese for whale, with the front fascia filled with a pattern vaguely resembling the filter-feeding system found inside the mouths of baleen whales that replaces the traditional grilles. As of March 2021, news of the reveal of a fastback version of the Roewe RX5 Max for the 2021 Auto Shanghai broke out, and the vehicle would be built on the same platform as the Roewe RX5 Max. Longbridge Plant
The Longbridge plant is an industrial complex in Longbridge, Birmingham, England, currently leased by SAIC Motor, SAIC as a research and development facility for its MG Motor subsidiary. Vehicle assembly ended in 2016. Opened in 1905, by the late 1960s, Longbridge employed around 25,000 workers, building cars including the original Mini.
