Rodven
Rodven Records was a Venezuelan record label that belonged to the Cisneros family owned ODC Group, then proprietors of one of the largest TV networks in the country, Venevision. They also owned a nationwide AM radio network (RadioVision, which later expanded into the FM realm as FM Center) and a record stores chain (DiscoCenter), thus serving as a channel for those artists who belonged to the roster of either of those companies (mostly signed to Venevision). Early years In its beginnings, SonoRodven (As it was originally named) emerged as a local source for international compilation albums (mostly those produced in the U.S. by companies such as K-Tel). Guillermo Dávila
Guillermo Dávila (born 18 March 1955, in Bailadores) is a Venezuelan actor and singer who has acted in many telenovelas. Biography After starting his career in theatre in the 1970s, Dávila first gained national fame in after starring in the telenovela '' Ligia Elena'' together with its sequel '' Nacho''. His international fame started rising then, and in 1984, he travelled to Puerto Rico, where he starred alongside Ivonne Goderich in the 1984 soap opera '' Diana Carolina'' for WAPA-TV. The series' title song, "Toda La Luz", became a number-one hit. Dávila continued starring in telenovelas, and in 1992, he gained fame once more after starring in '' Cara Sucia''. Eddie Santiago (born Eduardo Santiago Rodríguez, August 18, 1955) is a salsa singer from Puerto Rico. He is one of the great figures of this musical genre, with popular songs such as “Me Haces Falta Tú" on Soy el Mismo, “Lluvia" on Sigo Atrevido, “Mía" on Invasión de la Privacidad y “Tú me quemas" on Atrevido y diferente. Frankie Ruiz
José Antonio Torresola Ruiz, better known as Frankie Ruiz (March 10, 1958 – August 9, 1998), was a Puerto Rican singer. He was a major figure in the salsa romántica subgenre that was popular in the 1980s and early 1990s. During his youth, he developed a passion for percussion, later confessing that this would have been his second choice after singing. Fan reaction to his work was diverse. Within the Latino community, he was regarded as "one of the best salseros ever", and Puerto Ricans abroad were particularly fond of it because it brought back memories of their homeland. Orquesta La Solución is a Puerto Rican trombone-based salsa band, founded by bassist Roberto Rivera in 1973. Sonográfica
Sonográfica is a record label based in Caracas, Venezuela. It had links with Empresas 1BC, which also owned Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) and Radio Caracas Radio, among other businesses. During the 1980s, it supported Venezuelan musical talent as the result of a national decree known as "''One for One''", which required radio stations to play one song performed by a Venezuelan artist for every foreign song. This way, numerous Venezuelan artists such as Ilan Chester, Maria Rivas, Daiquirí, Franco de Vita, Carlos Mata, Rudy La Scala, Yordano etc., were promoted locally and internationally. Salsa Kids are a Latin pop band created in Puerto Rico in 1993 consisting of three members. The original members were Omar Rodriguez, Esteban Tollinchi and Jovet Angelo. Angelo departed in 1997 to pursue a solo career, and was replaced by Laz Herrera and by Jomy Columbus. Created in the image and likeness of youth groups such as Take That, the band's music fused pop with salsa, merengue, vallenato and other Latin rhythms, including a later touch of flamenco. Tommy Olivencia (May 15, 1938 – September 22, 2006) was a renowned Puerto Rican bandleader of salsa music. Early years Olivencia (birth name: Ángel Tomás Olivencia Pagán) was born in the Villa Palmeras section of Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
