Rodman is a city in Palo Alto County, Iowa, United States. The population was 31 at the time of the 2020 census. History Rodman got its start in the early 1880s, following construction of the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway through that territory. It was named for one Mr. Rodman, a retired sailor, who owned the town site. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Peter Warren Rodman (November 24, 1943 – August 2, 2008) was an American attorney, government official, author, and national security adviser. Early life and education Born in Boston, he was educated at The Roxbury Latin School. He earned an A.B from Harvard College, a B.A. and M.A. from Worcester College, Oxford, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. Career Rodman began his career in government as a staff member on the National Security Council, working from 1969 to 1977 and serving as an assistant to Henry Kissinger. From 1977 to 1983, he was a Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. From 1984 to 1986, Rodman served as Director of Policy Planning under Ronald Reagan. Lewis Rodman Wanamaker (February 13, 1863 – March 9, 1928) was an American businessman and heir to the Wanamaker's department store fortune. In addition to operating stores in Philadelphia, New York City, and Paris, he was a patron of the arts, education, golf, athletics, a Native American scholar, and of early aviation. In 1916, he served as a presidential elector for Pennsylvania, and was appointed Special Deputy Police Commissioner of New York City under Richard Enright in February 1918. In this capacity, he founded the world's first police aviation unit and oversaw reorganization of the New York City Reserve Police Force. William Rodman (October 7, 1757 – July 27, 1824) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. William Rodman was born in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania, near Bristol, Pennsylvania. He served in the American Revolutionary War as a private and subsequently as brigade quartermaster. He commanded a company during the Whisky Rebellion in 1794. He was a justice of the peace from 1791 to 1800, and a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 1st district from 1799 to 1803.
