Roden, Bavaria
Roden is a community in the Main-Spessart district in the '' Regierungsbezirk'' of Lower Franconia (''Unterfranken'') in Bavaria, Germany and a member of the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' (Administrative Community) of Marktheidenfeld. Geography Location Roden lies between Aschaffenburg (52 km) and Würzburg (32 km) on the edge of the Spessart (range). To Karlstadt am Main (the district seat) it is 15 km and to Lohr am Main the same. From the Autobahn A 3 (Frankfurt - Würzburg), Roden can be reached through the Marktheidenfeld interchange (no. 65), and thence to Marktheidenfeld and across the Main Bridge there. A left turn at the far end of the bridge brings drivers to Roden after 7 km. The community is rich in woodland (roughly 1 000 ha) at the seam between the Spessart's mostly bunter-based geology and that found on the ''Fränkische Platte'' (a flat, mostly agricultural region), which is mostly Muschelkalk-based. Earl Of Roden
Earl of Roden is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1771 for Robert Jocelyn, 2nd Viscount Jocelyn. This branch of the Jocelyn family descends from the 1st Viscount, prominent Irish lawyer and politician Robert Jocelyn, the son of Thomas Jocelyn, third son of Sir Robert Jocelyn, 1st Baronet, of Hyde Hall (see below). He notably served as the Lord Chancellor of Ireland from 1739 to 1756. In 1743, he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Newport, of Newport, and in 1755 he was further honoured, when he was made Viscount Jocelyn, also in the Peerage of Ireland. He was succeeded by his son, the second Viscount. He represented Old Leighlin in the Irish House of Commons and served as Auditor-General of Ireland. Roden Cutler
Sir Arthur Roden Cutler, (24 May 1916 – 21 February 2002) was an Australian diplomat, the longest serving Governor of New South Wales and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry "in the face of the enemy" that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth armed forces. Early life Arthur Roden Cutler was born on 24 May 1916. His cousin, Sir Charles Cutler, was Deputy Premier of New South Wales from 1965 to 1975. Arthur grew up in the Sydney Harbour suburb of Manly where he attended the Manly Village Public School. At the age of 15 he enrolled at Sydney Boys High School. Helen Gloria Roden (born 26 March 1986) is a professional athlete who played for college basketball club TCU Horned Frogs and for Australian rules football club Collingwood in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Early life and state football Roden was born in Fiji and moved to Melbourne at the age of one. As a teenager she played in local football clubs, including six years at Oak Park where she won the best and fairest award, but moved to basketball since there were no girls' teams after the age of 16.
