Rocka Rolla (song)
''Rocka Rolla'' is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 6 September 1974 by Gull Records. It was produced by Rodger Bain, who had made a name for himself as the producer of Black Sabbath's first three albums and Budgie's first two albums. It is the only album to feature drummer John Hinch. Background According to the band, the entire album was played live in the studio. According to the band there were technical problems in the studio, resulting in poor sound quality and a hiss through the album. Guitarist Glenn Tipton had just joined when recording of ''Rocka Rolla'' began; his only songwriting contributions accepted by producer Rodger Bain were on the title track and "Run of the Mill". He did come up with the songs "Tyrant", "Epitaph", and "Ripper", but Bain considered them not commercial enough and rejected them. Judas Priest
Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1969. They have sold over 50 million albums and are frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Alan John Atkins (born 14 October 1947) is an English heavy metal vocalist, best known for being the original lead vocalist and founder of Judas Priest. Biography Atkins formed what would become Judas Priest in 1969. With a wife and young daughter to support, Atkins was forced to drop out of Judas Priest "to get a 9-to-5 job" in May 1973. Atkins' position as lead vocalist was succeeded by Rob Halford. With Atkins out of the group, no founding members of the band remained (original members Brian "Bruno" Stapenhill, and John Partridge had left the band in 1970, and John Perry committed suicide in 1969). Atkins received writing credits on the first two Judas Priest albums '' Rocka Rolla'' and ''Sad Wings of Destiny''. ''The Steel Tsar'' is a sci-fi/alternate history novel by Michael Moorcock, first published in 1981 by Granada. Being a sequel to '' The Warlord of the Air'' (1971) and '' The Land Leviathan'' (1974), it is the final part of Moorcock's '' A Nomad of the Time Streams'' trilogy regarding the adventures of Captain Oswald Bastable and which has been seen as an early example of steampunk fiction. Melvyn Grant
Melvyn "Mel" Grant (born 1944) is an English artist and illustrator. Trained traditionally, he originally worked with oil paints, but in the late 1990s Grant switched to creating most of his work digitally with a digitizing tablet and the software Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. Mel now lives and works on the coast in the Southeast of England, although the bulk of his work is commissioned internationally. Grant was born in London, England. Always interested in illustrated arts, he attended the Brassey School of Fine Art from the age of twelve before dropping out at the age of eighteen. John Pasche
John Pasche (born 24 April 1945) is a British graphic designer and art director. A Brighton College of Art graduate with an MA from the Royal College of Art, Pasche is best known for being the designer of the tongue and lips logo for The Rolling Stones. Aside from their logo, he has also worked with The Rolling Stones on some of their tour posters and other promotional material throughout the early to mid 1970s. Life and career Pasche completed his BA degree in graphic design from the Brighton College of Art between 1963 and 1967. He completed his MA at the Royal College of Art in London from 1967 to 1970. ''Stained Class'' is the fourth studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 10 February 1978 by Columbia Records. It is the first of three Judas Priest albums recorded with drummer Les Binks, as well as the first to feature the band's now well-known logo in the artwork.
