Rock Dream
''Rock Dream'' is a collaborative live album between Japanese band Boris (band), Boris and Japan noise musician Merzbow. Production ''Rock Dream'' was recorded live in November 2006 at Tokyo's Earthdom festival. Style Thom Jurek of AllMusic noted that the album was nothing like ''Sun Baked Snow Cave'', a previous collaboration between Boris (band), Boris and Merzbow. Jurek noted that the music was not a "free-form improvisation and noise fest". Release ''Rock Dream'' was released on October 26, 2007, on the Japanese music label Diwphalanx Records. The American label Southern Lord released the album in 2008 on compact disc and vinyl. The vinyl version includes the track "Dyno-Saur" that is not included on either version of CD releases. The American version had packaging designed by Stephen O'Malley, with their printer stating that they "never ever make anything like this again as it was painfully time-consuming and took forever to get just right!" Boris (band)
is a Japanese rock band that draws variously from styles such as sludge metal, drone music, drone, noise music, noise, psychedelic music, psychedelia, and minimal music, minimalism. Formed in 1992 in Tokyo, the band is composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members sing. ''Rainbow'' is a collaborative album between Japanese rock band Boris and guitarist Michio Kurihara. Wata contributed vocals to the title song, which has a music video made for it by Foodunited. The album's initial release was done by Pedal Records, with liner notes in Portuguese. Drag City released this album in the United States on May 15, 2007 with a different 9th track, on CD format only. In 2007, the album was also released on vinyl in two forms by Inoxia Records: an unlimited LP which contains the album (same as Pedal CD version), and a double LP box set with a 50-page photo book in a special cover, the album on clear vinyl, a second LP containing two bonus ambient tracks (also on clear vinyl), and a DVD featuring the music video for "Rainbow". ''Heavy Rocks '' is the fourth studio album by Japanese band Boris, released in 2002. It is the first of three Boris albums titled ''Heavy Rocks'', with the others released in 2011 and 2022; all feature the band exploring hard rock and heavy metal sounds. Alternate takes of "1970" and "Wareruraido" were used for a single, while re-recordings of "Korosu" and "1970" with Michio Kurihara appear on '' Boris / Variations + Live in Japan.'' Music videos were shot for the tracks "1970" and "Korosu" and were originally viewable on FoodUnited's website. Both videos were later included on the 2003 DVD ''Live at Shimokitazawa Shelter''. The album was issued digitally and on vinyl for the first time in September 2023, through Third Man Records.
