Rochedale South
Rochedale South is the most northern residential suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Rochedale South had a population of 15,228 people. Geography Its northern boundaries of Priestdale and Underwood Road form the boundary of the City of Logan and the City of Brisbane. Part of the suburb's western boundary follows the Pacific Motorway. In the past Rochedale was known for its rich, red soil that is good for crops. Yet due to recent years of drought in the area, much of the farming has been abandoned and are now commercialised. It borders Rochedale, Eight Mile Plains, Priestdale, Springwood and Underwood. History In 1952, the Gill family ran a poultry farm and piggery and in 1967 developed the land into the first sewered estate in the region. Gateway Motorway
The Gateway Motorway (M2 to Eight Mile Plains and M1 to Bald Hills) is a major tolled motorway in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia which includes the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (former Gateway Bridge). The motorway is operated by toll road operator Transurban. It bypasses Brisbane in order to provide easier access between the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and Toowoomba. Rochedale Rovers are a semi-professional football club which plays at Underwood Park in Priestdale, Queensland, Australia and currently competes in the Queensland Premier League with senior and junior teams competing in both Football Queensland and Football Brisbane competitions. History In November 1972, local resident Tommy Vance placed an advertisement in the local paper looking for people interested in forming a soccer club on a small field behind the historic Glen Hotel at Eight Mile Plains. The Brisbane Premier League was the first tier of senior soccer in Brisbane, Queensland (fourth tier in Queensland and fifth overall in Australia).
