His career encompasses six decades. Life and career Early life Scott was born in Croydon, Surrey, where he attended Croydon Art College and met Malcolm McLaren in the late 1960s. Scott befriended McLaren and fashion guru Vivienne Westwood with whom he was to collaborate ten years later. He declined their offer to be involved in SEX, the Chelsea clothes shop which McLaren and Westwood launched, preferring to make his career in music. While at college he had displayed a talent for writing topical songs which he performed on radio and television. This led to his debut album, for which he was backed by Mighty Baby. Robin Hugh Scutt (24 October 1920 – 7 February 2000), better known as Robin Scott, was a British broadcasting executive. He was the launch controller of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 in 1967, and the controller of BBC2 television from 1969 to 1974. Early career Born Robin Hugh Scutt, he was educated at Bryanston School and read modern languages at Jesus College, Cambridge before joining the Intelligence Corps. He was discharged through illness in 1942, and joined the BBC. While in the BBC's French Service he commented on major events, including VE Day and VJ Day. During this time he changed his name to Scott, because his French contacts found his original name difficult to say. He moved into television in the late 1950s, and produced programmes including ''Miss World'', ''Come Dancing'' and ''It's a Knockout''. Robin David Scott (born 23 January 1973) is a former Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly between 2006 and 2022, representing the seat of Preston. Early life Scott was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in politics from La Trobe University. Scott was later hired in 1996 as an electorate officer, with Scott becoming secretary of the party's Preston branch. Political career In 2006, Robin Scott was selected as the Labor candidate for Preston, a safe seat being vacated by sitting member Michael Leighton. Scott has represented the seat since.
