In his debut, against Durham, he scored 10 runs from the tailend, becoming the highest-scoring player on the Hertfordshire team. Two seasons later, he made his second and final List A appearance, in which he scored 13 runs — in a match in which teammate Alan Bell, playing in his only List A match, scored 105 runs. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Hertfordshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Hertfordshire. The team is currently a member of the Minor Counties Championship Eastern Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Hertfordshire played List A matches occasionally from 1964 until 2004 but is not classified as a List A team ''per se''. David Marques
Reginald William David Marques (9 December 1932 – 29 September 2010) was an English rugby union international lock forward. At club level he represented Cambridge University, the Army and most notably Harlequin F.C. He played international rugby with England and in 1959 he was selected to tour New Zealand and Australia with the British Lions. Personal history Marques was born in Ware, Hertfordshire in 1932, and was educated at Yardley Court and Tonbridge School where he played in the rugby first XV alongside Colin Cowdrey. Marques completed his national service with the Royal Engineers before matriculating to Cambridge University. After retiring from rugby he joined the family firm making street lights. David Marques was the brother of Robin Marques. In 1964 Marques was a member of the 1964 America's Cup challenger team, aboard the Sovereign.
