Robert Schieler, FSC (born 1950) is an Catholic Church in the United States, American Catholic who serves as a member of the De La Salle Brothers, Brothers of the Christian Schools. He was elected Superior general (Christianity), superior general of his religious community on May 20, 2014. Background After completing his studies in Modern European History and a PhD in educational administration, worked as a teacher in the U.S. and, after making his final profession in 1979, he worked as a missionary 13 years in the Philippines. In his congregation Schieler made several managerial tasks: Auxiliary Visitor of the District of Baltimore from 1991 to 1998, Director of Education for the USA- Toronto Region from 1998 to 2001 and Visitor of his district since 2001 to 2007. The De La Salle Brothers, officially named the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (; ; ) abbreviated FSC, is a Catholic lay religious congregation of pontifical right for men founded in France by Jean-Baptiste de La Salle (1651–1719), now based in Rome, Italy. The De La Salle Brothers are also known as the Christian Brothers (sometimes by Lasallian organisations themselves), French Christian Brothers, or Lasallian Brothers. Brother Armin Altamirano Luistro (born December 24, 1961) is a Filipino Lasallian Brother who served as secretary of the Department of Education of the Philippines under President Benigno Aquino III. He is the first Asian Superior General of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools or De La Salle Brothers worldwide. Luistro entered De La Salle Scholasticate (the center for academic training of De La Salle Brothers to become full-fledged educators) in Manila in April 1979 while he was studying in De La Salle University (DLSU).
