Robert Ross (entrepreneur)
Robert Ross (born Robert Rosen; December 26, 1918 – March 19, 2011) was an international business entrepreneur who founded the Ross University School of Medicine in 1978 and the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2007 on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. Career Ross was born in Detroit, Michigan, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his return to Detroit following his discharge from the Army, he began marketing television sets in anticipation of the post-war growth of television broadcasting. Later, he began marketing clothing and pharmaceuticals, expanding into various international businesses such as steel, petro chemicals, and electronics. In 1972, ''Time'' magazine dubbed Ross, "one of the new Marco Polos", referring to his far-flung business activities. Robert Rosen (born 1953) is an Australian fashion, social and fine art photographer. Life and work Born in South Africa, he emigrated with his family to Australia in 1960 and grew up in suburban Melbourne. After high school, he studied photography at the Prahran College of Technology but dropped out after being pressured by a teacher to take a more commercial approach. He moved to the Sydney suburb of Kings Cross, where he unsuccessfully pursued work as a fashion photographer, before moving to London in 1975. Rosen was active from the 1970s to the 2010s. He retired to live in Bali. Career Rosen was born on June 27, 1934, in Brownsville (a section of Brooklyn), in New York City. He is the author of '' Nowhere Man: The Final Days of John Lennon'', a controversial account of the ex-Beatle's last five years, based on Rosen’s memory of Lennon’s diaries. His second book, ''Beaver Street: A History of Modern Pornography'', was published by Headpress in the U.K. in 2011 and in the U.S. in 2012. Robert Ozn (born Robert Mitchell Warfield Frank Rosen, New York City) (records under the name DaDa NaDa; Broadway credits as Robert Rosen; nickname ŌZN, (pronounced "OH-zen")) is widely credited, along with his partner, the late Ned "ẼBN" Liben, to be the creator of the first commercially released and charted record ever made with a computer in the United States, ẼBN-ÕZN's "AEIOU Sometimes Y" (Elektra Records, 1983), which was inducted into the Alternate Music Hall of Fame as a Class of 2024, "Masterpiece Single." Robert Rosén (born 25 June 1987) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey centre who last played for the Växjö Lakers in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Rosén started his professional career in 2003 with the Division 2 team Alvesta SK, and played there for two seasons. Rosén then went to Växjö Lakers of the HockeyAllsvenskan where he had great success, scoring a total of 176 points in 211 games. Rosén then signed with Modo Hockey to make his Elitserien debut in the 2010–11 season. His 2010–11 season with Modo ended with 27 points in 65 games. After that season, which ended in play in the Kvalserien qualification for the team in order to stay in Elitserien, Rosén signed with AIK of the same league. He totalled a career high of 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 55 games, and won the scoring league as a result. Bert E. Rose Jr. (September 26, 1919 – October 14, 2001) was an American football executive who served as the first general manager of the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and Texas Stadium. Biography Early life Rose received a degree in journalism from the University of Washington in 1941. He was the commander of a United States Navy submarine chaser during World War II. After the war, Rose worked in the public relations department at Boeing. In 1947, he returned to his alma mater as director of sports publicity. In 1952 he was promoted to assistant athletic director. In 1955 he succeeded Pete Rozelle as public relations director of the Los Angeles Rams.
