Robert Prenter
Robert M. Prenter, Jr. was a California State Assemblyman from 1996 to 1998. Personal life Prenter was born in Harbor City, California on January 23, 1965. He married Natasha Fooman in 2003. Political career He was elected to the State Assembly after defeating former Assembly Speaker Brian Setencich in the Republican primary (who ran as a write-in candidate in the general election). Prenter was defeated for reelection in 1998 by Dean Florez. Prenter's initial campaign was largely funded by the conservative California Independent Business PAC, principally backed by his uncle, religious radio network owner Edward G. Atsinger III. Atsinger is one of the founders of Salem Communications. The campaign was managed by Southern California-based political operative Jane Carroll. Harbor City is a highly diverse neighborhood in the Harbor region of Los Angeles, California, with a population upward of 36,000 people. Originally part of the Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant, the Harbor City was brought into Los Angeles as a preliminary step in the larger city's consolidation with the port cities of Wilmington and San Pedro. The area includes two high schools and seven other schools, as well as the Ken Malloy Harbor Regional and two other parks. There is a Kaiser Permanente hospital as well. Brian Setencich
Brian Setencich (born March 29, 1962) served in the California Assembly for one term from 1994 to 1996 and as Speaker of that body from September 14, 1995, to January 4, 1996. Setencich, a Republican, was the first freshman legislator to serve as Speaker of the Assembly in more than a century. He was previously a city councilman in Fresno and played professional basketball in Europe. Early years Setencich was born in Fresno, California where he attended local public schools and played basketball for his high school team. After playing collegiately at Cal State-Bakersfield, Setencich went on to play professional basketball in Europe prior to starting his political career. Dean Raymond Florez (born April 5, 1963 in Shafter, California) is a former California State Senator from the 16th Senate District, who served from 2002 until the end of his second term in November 2010. He was first elected to the California State Assembly in 1998 and served two terms. His mostly rural district stretches across 300 miles anchored by the city of Bakersfield in the south and the city of Fresno at its northern tip. On December 1, 2008, he was named Senate Majority Leader by Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento).
