Robert Burren Morgan (October 5, 1925 – July 16, 2016) was an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, Morgan served as United States Senator for North Carolina from 1975 to 1981, for a single term. Life and career Born in Lillington, North Carolina, Morgan attended Lillington public schools and later East Carolina College and Wake Forest University School of Law. Morgan's political career began early when political leaders in his home county of Harnett County, including highly respected Democratic stalwart Veneble Baggett, visited him at the Wake Forest Law School and urged him to run for Clerk of Court. Morgan did so and was elected. After building a reputation in that office, he went into the private practice of law. His skill as a trial lawyer caused his practice to grow, and he soon established a reputation that extended across the state. Robert Clark Morgan (13 March 1798 – 23 September 1864) was an English sea captain, whaler, diarist, and, in later life, a missionary. He captained the ''Duke of York'', bringing the first settlers to South Australia in 1836. His life in the British whaling industry has been recorded in the book ''The Man Who Hunted Whales'' (2011) by Dorothy M. Heinrich. His diaries are held in the State Library of New South Wales. Birth Morgan was born on 13 March 1798 at Deptford, Kent, in England. This is recorded in his diary. His parentage is not known. No conclusive record of his birth has been found. In his diary he does not mention his parentage apart from a few cryptic remarks. Robert Morgan (1608 – 1 September 1673) was a Welsh Bishop of Bangor. Life He was born at Fronfraith in the parish of Llandyssil in Montgomeryshire, the third son of Richard Morgan, gent., M.P. for Montgomery Boroughs (UK Parliament constituency) in 1592-3, and of his wife, Margaret, daughter of Thomas Lloyd of Gwernbuarth. He was educated near Bronfraith, under the father of Simon Lloyd, archdeacon of Merioneth, and proceeded to Jesus College, Cambridge, where he entered 6 July 1624, and graduated B.A. in 1628, M.A. in 1631. He was appointed chaplain to David Dolben on his election to the bishopric of Bangor, and was nominated to the vicarage of Llanwnol in Montgomeryshire, 16 September 1632, and afterwards to the rectory of Llangynhafal and Dyffryn Clwyd. On Dolben's death in 1633 he returned to Cambridge, where on 25 June 1634 he was transferred to St. John's College. David Robert Ruskin Morgan (29 August 1941 — 19 September 1999) was a Welsh international rugby union player. Born in Pontyberem, Morgan was educated at Gwendraeth Grammar School and Cardiff College of Education. Morgan, a winger, played his rugby for Pontyberem, Llanelli and Cardiff, while winning nine Wales caps. He appeared in all of Wales's 1962 and 1963 Five Nations fixtures, as well as a 1963 match against the All Blacks in Cardiff. Robert Morgan (born November 11, 1973) is an American former professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He currently owns the GT Celebration Race Series, a road racing series. He formerly competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as a driver from 1997 to 2001. In 1998, Morgan became a co-owner of Morgan-Dollar Motorsports along with David Dollar. Robert ("Bob", "Bobby" or "Robby") Morgan (born 27 March 1967) is a retired Welsh diver, who competing for Wales and Great Britain is best known for winning a bronze and a silver medal in the men's 10 m platform at the European Championships in the early 1990s, and the first Welsh diver to win gold at the Commonwealth Games.
