Robert Lloyd (of Rhiwgoch)
Robert Lloyd was a Welsh politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1586 and 1601. Lloyd was the son of Evan Lloyd of Rhiwgoch and his wife Elen Salusbury, daughter of Robert Salusbury of Llanrwst, Denbighshire. He was possibly educated at Shrewsbury School in 1574. In 1586, he was elected Member of Parliament for Merioneth. He was at this time escheator for Merioneth. He was High Sheriff of Merionethshire in 1596 and Deputy Lieutenant in 1600. In 1601 he was elected MP for Merioneth again. During this time he was unpopular with people of influence, in particular the Earl of Pembroke, and was subject to various allegations about his conduct. He was High Sheriff of Merionethshire in 1602. In 1610 he rebuilt his house at Rhiwgoch. He was High Sheriff of Merioneth again in 1615 and in 1625. Edward Herbert, 1st Baron Herbert of Cherbury (or Chirbury) KB (3 March 1583 – 5 August 1648) was an English soldier, diplomat, historian, poet and religious philosopher of the Kingdom of England. Life Early life Edward Herbert was the eldest son of Richard Herbert of Montgomery Castle (a member of a collateral branch of the family of the Earls of Pembroke) and of Magdalen, daughter of Sir Richard Newport, and brother of the poet George Herbert. He was born within England at Eyton-on-Severn near Wroxeter, Shropshire. After private tuition, he matriculated at University College, Oxford, as a gentleman commoner, in May 1596. Thomas Myddelton (Lord Mayor Of London)
Sir Thomas Myddelton (1550 – 12 August 1631) was a Welsh merchant who was Lord Mayor of London before becoming a Member of Parliament for London. Early life He was the fourth son of Richard Myddelton, Governor of Denbigh Castle, and Jane Dryhurst. Among his siblings were William Myddelton, a poet and seaman, Sir Hugh Myddelton, 1st Baronet, a merchant and clothmaker, and Robert Myddelton, MP for Weymouth and Melcombe Regis and the City of London. Career As a youth, he was apprenticed to a grocer in London, and made his fortune in trade. He divided his time between London and Wales, and purchased Chirk Castle in 1595 for £5,000. He was a member of the Grocers' Company, a Member of Parliament for the City of London and a founder member of the East India Company, Sheriff of London in 1604 and Lord Mayor of London in 1613. Shrewsbury School is a public school (English independent boarding school for pupils aged 13 –18) in Shrewsbury.
