Robert L. Emerson (born March 23, 1948) is a Democratic politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. He was member of the Michigan Senate having served as the Democratic minority leader. He represented the 27th district in Genesee County, which encompasses the city of Flint. Biography Emerson was born in Alpena on March 23, 1948. Genesee County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 406,211, making it the fifth-most populous county in Michigan. The county seat and population center is Flint (birthplace of General Motors). Genesee County is considered to be a part of the greater Mid Michigan area. The county was named after Genesee County, New York which in turn comes from the Seneca word Gen-nis'-hee-yo, meaning "Beautiful Valley". Richard Dale Snyder (born August 19, 1958) is an American business executive, venture capitalist, attorney, accountant, and politician who served as the 48th governor of Michigan from 2011 to 2019. Jennifer Mulhern Granholm (born February 5, 1959) is a Canadian-American lawyer, educator, author, political commentator, and politician serving as the 16th United States secretary of energy since 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the 47th governor of Michigan from 2003 to 2011, and as the attorney general of Michigan from 1999 to 2003, as the first woman to hold both offices. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census.
