Robert Karolevitz
Robert Francis Karolevitz (April 26, 1922 – June 17, 2011) was an American author and humorist from Yankton, South Dakota. His writing focused on biography, humor, and history, among other topics. He has been described as "one of South Dakota's most prolific authors". Biography Karolevitz was born in Yankton, South Dakota, to Frank and Martha Karolevitz (née Rathjen). He grew up in Yankton, where he attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Yankton High School in 1940. He fought in the United States Army Infantry in both Japan and the Philippines during World War II. He earned his bachelor's degree from South Dakota State University and his master's degree from the University of Oregon. In 1971, he received the Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. South Dakota Hall Of Fame
The South Dakota Hall of Fame is an American award for excellence among South Dakotans. Established in 1974, the South Dakota State Legislature named the organization the state's official hall of fame in 1996. The hall is a museum detailing "acts of excellence", the host of an annual honors ceremony, a statewide K-12 South Dakota History Program, and a Visitor and Education Center in Chamberlain, South Dakota, Chamberlain that opened in June 2000. More than 700 South Dakotans have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and their stories of excellence with supporting media are available online. Yankton is a city in and the county seat of Yankton County, South Dakota, United States. It became a city in 1889.
