Robert E. Lamb
Robert E. Lamb (born November 17, 1936) was United States Assistant Secretary of State for Administration from 1983 to 1985; Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security from 1987 to 1989; and United States Ambassador to Cyprus from 1990 to 1993. Biography Robert E. Lamb was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 17, 1936. He was educated at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving an A.B. in 1962. After college, Lamb joined the United States Foreign Service beginning a career as a Foreign Service Officer. A career diplomat, he rose through the ranks of the United States Department of State to become Director of the United States Passport Office in the Bureau of Consular Affairs and Director of Financial Services. In 1983, President of the United States Ronald Reagan nominated Lamb as Assistant Secretary of State for Administration, and Lamb held this office from December 19, 1983, until July 1, 1985. Bellefonte, Pennsylvania
Bellefonte is a borough in, and the county seat of, Centre County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is approximately twelve miles northeast of State College and is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough population was 6,187 at the 2010 census. It houses the Centre County Courthouse, located downtown on the diamond. Bellefonte has also been home to five of Pennsylvania's governors, as well as two other governors. All seven are commemorated in a monument located at Talleyrand Park. The town features many examples of Victorian architecture. It is also home to the natural spring from which the town derives its name ("la belle fonte", bestowed by Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord during a land-speculation visit to central Pennsylvania in the 1790s). This is a list of ambassadors of the United States to Cyprus. Until 1960 Cyprus had been a colony of the British Empire. On August 16, 1960, Cyprus gained its independence from the United Kingdom. The United States recognized the new nation and established an embassy in Nicosia on August 16, 1960, with L. Douglas Heck as ''Chargé d'Affaires ad interim''. Diplomatic relations between the United States and Cyprus have been continuous since that time. One ambassador, Rodger P. Davies, was assassinated by a sniper while at his post in 1974. Richard A. Boucher (born 1951 in Bethesda, Maryland) is an American diplomat who was deputy secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) from 2009 until 2013. He took up post on November 5, 2009. Prior to joining OECD, he was the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, a post he took up on February 21, 2006. The Bureau of South Asian Affairs was expanded to include the nations of Central Asia shortly before his confirmation.
