Robert Andrew Glendinning Carson, FBA (7 April 1918 – 24 March 2006) was a British numismatist. Life and career Robert Carson was educated at Kirkcudbright Academy, He was awarded a first in classics at Glasgow Caledonian University where one of his teachers was Professor Anne S. Robertson, curator at the Hunterian Museum and a specialist in Roman coins. He served in the Royal Artillery in north-west Europe, rising to captain. He married in 1949 and had two children. In 1947, he joined the British Museum's department of coins and medals as an assistant keeper. This continued his engagement with classics, and he learned Roman numismatics under the guidance of Harold Mattingly. In 1965 he was appointed deputy keeper. He became a leading expert on Roman coins, and rose to Keeper of Coins and Medals at the British Museum from 1978 to 1983. Robert Samuel Carson (June 8, 1909 – June 2, 1979) was an American actor noted for dozens of supporting roles in films and television series during a career that spanned three and a half decades. He was also occasionally billed as Bob Carson or Robert S. Carson. Early years Carson was born in Hennepin County, Minnesota, to Elmer Llewellyn Carson and Elsa W. Carson (née Brunke) and grew up in Carman, Manitoba, Canada, along with his younger brother and actor Jack Carson. The family later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Robert was active as a singer and musician while he was a student at the University of Minnesota. Robert N. Carson (born January 23, 1989) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who is currently the pitching coach for the Québec Capitales of the Frontier League. He played in Major League Baseball for the New York Mets. Career New York Mets The New York Mets drafted Carson in the 14th round of the 2007 MLB Draft out of Hattiesburg High School. He started the 2012 season with the Class-AA Binghamton Mets of the Eastern League. Robert Henry Carson (November 7, 1885 – March 7, 1971) was a life insurance agent and political figure in British Columbia, Canada. He represented Kamloops in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1933 to 1949 as a Liberal then Liberal-Conservative Coalition member. He was born on Pavilion Farm, a ranch in British Columbia, the son of Robert Carson and Eliza Jane Magee, and was educated in New Westminster. In 1912, Carson married Constance Mildred Robson. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the British Columbia assembly in 1928. Carson served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1948 to 1949. Robert "Sonny" Carson (also known as Mwlina Imiri Abubadika; May 22, 1936 – December 20, 2002), was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, racial civil rights activist, and community leader in Brooklyn, New York. Carson was known for political organizing and coordinating public protests of the school systems in African-American communities in New York during the 1960s and 70s.
