Robert Boughey
Robert George Boughey (born June 20, 1936) is an American architect who has worked primarily in Dhaka and Bangkok. Born in Pennsylvania, he completed his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York in 1959, after which he worked for Louis Berger, Inc., overseeing its projects in East Pakistan East Pakistan was the eastern province of Pakistan between 1955 and 1971, restructured and renamed from the province of East Bengal and covering the territory of the modern country of Bangladesh. Indoor Stadium Huamark (, , ) is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena, located in Hua Mak Subdistrict, Bang Kapi District, Bang Kapi, Bangkok, Thailand. It is next to Rajamangala National Stadium and is a part of Hua Mak Sports Complex. The original capacity of the arena is 15,000 spectators and it was built in 1966 for the 1966 Asian Games, 5th Asian Games. After renovation for 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, the capacity is reduced to 6,000 seats and expandable to 8,000 seats. Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC; ) is a contemporary arts centre in Siam area, Bangkok, Thailand. SCB Park Plaza or Siam Commercial Bank Park Plaza is a high-rise building complex in the Chatuchak District of Bangkok, Thailand. It was completed in 1996 and houses the headquarters of Siam Commercial Bank, as well as other office tenants and retail space. The complex occupies on Ratchadaphisek Road, near Ratchayothin Intersection, and was designed by Thailand-based American architect Robert G. Boughey. It was built over four years at a cost of around 10 billion baht (US$400M at the time). It was one of the first buildings in Thailand to employ intelligent systems to optimize energy efficiency, and was unique at the time for the development of an entire complex as a single project under a common overarching design. Don Mueang International Airport — known as Bangkok International Airport before 2006 — is one of two international airports serving Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, the other being Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The airport is considered one of the world's oldest international airports and one of Asia's oldest operating airports. It officially opened as a Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) base on 27 March 1914, although it had been in use earlier. Commercial flights began in 1924, making it one of the world's oldest commercial airports.
